We are in Shanghai China for the first time and we share some of our first impressions of the city on our second day - we get a chance to experience Shanghai nightlife and eat some of the local foods.
This place isnt like the West portrays China at all..
Turns out many of us have been missing out 😅

We decided to go travelling and ended up living getting stuck in Malaysia during 2020 which spurred the creation of this channel, we're now back on the road after a lengthy hiatus!
We're Malaysian enthusiasts who enjoy discovering spots off the tourist trail and don’t like taking ourselves too seriously. A sizeable part of Japanese and Korean cultures are borrowed from China, including Chinese characters 汉字 ie. Japanese kanji / Korean hanja. About 60% of both the Japanese and Korean vocabulary are borrowed from Chinese. Additionally, some things that originated from China but almost always mistaken for Japanese origins include matcha/greentea, gyoza, bonsai, etc.

Japan, korean, Vietnam mainly are part of Chinese civilization. Historically they always viewed China as the source of civilization and anything Chinese are the ultimate legitimism of the whole world. To rule the world you got to be Chinese first. It's just weired for a Chinese to see some of the typical Chinese stuff being considered as Japanese by the Westerners. To be honest to a Chinese who the fxxk is Japanese anyway. A tributary country to China at most.

Vietnam was ruled by ancient China for 900 years and later became independent, so Vietnamese culture is also very close to China, and there are many temples with characters similar to Chinese ones.

Cats in Japan are believed to have originated from China. It is generally thought that during the Tang Dynasty, the eminent monk Jianzhen brought cats to Japan to protect precious Buddhist scriptures from being damaged by rats on the ship. These cats, therefore, came to be known as "Tang cats." At that time, cats were rare in Japan and were kept only by the royal family and temples. Due to their association with Buddhism, Japanese people attributed various spiritual abilities to cats, such as bringing good fortune, turning luck around, and guarding luck. This is the origin of the Shosoin Fortune Cat.

From the name of your channel, I think you are a vegetarian. I suggest you try a vegetarian restaurant in China. Seeing that you have been eating tofu for several meals, I think it is a waste of your opportunity if you don't try Chinese vegetarian food. Chinese vegetarian food will surprise you. Some Chinese vegetarian restaurants are buffet style, and some are the same as ordinary restaurants. Buffet style ones are generally not too expensive, at most about 100 RMB per person. If it is an ordinary vegetarian restaurant, it will be more expensive, the most expensive can be 1000 RMB per person, and the cheaper ones can be about 100 RMB per person. You can search it on the Internet. By the way, the Chinese character "素" means vegetarian.

There are a few reasons why western countries the governments don't want their citizens to visit China. 1st to see all the Chinese super infrastructures. 2nd how China is able to keep the public areas so clean, green and organized. 3th why China is so safe even for foreigners. 4th. How Chinese education system is able to educate the people with such huge population to be so disciplined. If those western countries people visit China and see all these, they will realize how useless and incompetent their governments are compared to the Chinese government. With so much taxes they're paying, yet their useless governments are not able to provide them the same infrastructures, cleanliness and safety to the people. That is why their governments and government controlled media keep lying to them about how bad China is. How undeveloped China is and advises the people not to visit China. The governments do not want the people to see the real China and compare.

No, not true. Regarding the origin of the cat's function of attracting wealth, Duan Chengshi of the Tang Dynasty wrote in "Youyang Miscellaneous Zuo": "If a cat washes its face over its ears, guests will come." The image of the maneki cat is vividly depicted on paper; it can be determined that this custom existed among the people at least a thousand years ago in the Tang Dynasty. 猫的招财功能起源,唐代段成式著《酉阳杂俎》曾写道:“猫洗面过耳则客至”,招财猫的形象跃然纸上;由可以确定至少在一千年前的唐代,民间就有此一习俗了。
