A good way to get introduced to IU is by watching her performance on Dingo Music killer voice. Be sure to watch the one with Eng. Subtitles. Another thing to know about IU is that she sounds the best live and there are a number of live Special clips and live concert clips from her channel. All that being said I can recommend several live IU performances that are iconic. But first you need to watch her debut MV Lost Child. She debuted in 2008 at the international age of 15, korean age of 16. The fans didn't take to the song mainly because they felt it was to mature for a young female singer. The MV was made but was shelved until 2011 after her 1st big super hit Good Day. It is hard to understand why the kpop fans were so negative on this song it is a great song. She started writing and composing much of her own music in 2014 with her Chat- Shire album. But in 2011 she wrote and a song for the kdrama The Greatest Love called Hold My Hand. Her performance of this song during her 2019 Love Poem tour took this song back into the top Ten 8 years after it release. The live clip of this concert is iconic. Also at this same concert is her iconic live performances of Blueming, with a the addition of a fan chant. Her special live clip of Love Poem is another iconic performance, before to have some tissues nearby. Her Eight MV is a must watch but you need a little background to fully appreciate and understand it, again have tissues near by, for it is her story of her struggles with dealing with the deaths of 3 of her kpop friends Junghyun, Sulli and Goo Hare by suicide. Sulli and 30 days apart in the fall of the 2019. No live performance or MV for My Sea but it is a must listen to song. MV of song Coin is yet another song where IU changes it up. I could go on and on. Her MV 's are full of symbolism and use of metaphors that add meaning texture and depth to the story. It take multiple viewing to even catch everything as everything you see has a meaning or message. The MV you watched today is perhaps along with eight the most complex MV. Many believe that Blueming is the 3rd part of a story that starts in 2011 with You & I, followed 8 years later in Dec of 2019 with Above the Time about 2 young people in love but separated by time and space are trying to overcome those barriers and ends with Blueming. I personally think the Blueming connection is weak but there are themes that are carried over into it. If case you didn't know IU is also an outstanding actress. As if her tiny body didn't already have enough talent her acting is taken her to a different level. I highly recommend My Mister and Hotel Del Luna. My Mister is what got her a role in the movie Broker which won awards at Canne this year and took the top award at the Munich film festival. I looked to watching your IU journey. Do a Lilac marathon! Her latest album and soon to come concert. She’s done MVs for Lilac, Coin, Epilogue, Celebrity, Flu! And you can definitely find ah puh, hi spring bye and my sea sang live as well. Girlie last year really said, I’m gonna comeback and nobody will stand a chance! She released a full album (lilac), a single (strawberry moon) and a special ep with 5 unreleased songs called pieces (it’s such a pretty collection 😭 the concept is so beautiful). All that while filming and releasing MVs, filming broker (which was in the Cannes festival this year), filming her show Palette on IU TV… I don’t know how she does it, truly! I have the same dilemma about IU - do I want to be her or be with her. She is my all time favourite artist. She is such an amazing person. I would try her debut - "lost child". It is not cutesy! "Good day" is worth watching as it was her breakthrough. It's sweet but I wouldn't say cutesy either. There are so many to recommend! A lot of her songs/albums have meanings/theories. You should research some of her songs such as Palette, Bbibbi, Eight, Lilac, and etc.

IU has said many times that she sufferd a lot during her early 20s bc she hated herself and she eveb mention she had bulimia and had to seak professional help. Palette is about her finally coming to terms with her own and that's why she mentiones so many little trivial things about herself. Also, i don't think you should be incredibly huge for people to appreciate the fact that you are bearing your soul and being your most autentic self like she always does.
