What's so wonderful about them God knows they didn't do anything for Americans while he was in office but forget to fulfill the promises he made to the people. My family fell for his BS promises and donated 1 Million to campaign fund because we believed what he said and we are registered Republicans. I can honestly say it's discussed around the family as WORST MISTAKE WE EVER MADE, NEVER AGAIN

Jackie Martin - 1) Obama revitalized the American Automobile Industry. It is thriving again before Covid hit. 2) He eradicated Pre Existing Conditions for all Americans seeking Health insurance. Diabetes, High Blood Pressure,High Cholesterol, Cancer, Heart Attack, Arthritis, and so much more no longer matters. Your premiums aren’t raised because of it, you are allowed health insurance without having to be subsidized by a state program. 3) Children up to the age of 26 can remain on their parents insurance. Pursuing an advanced degree right after completing a bachelor’s degree, no problem. You don’t have to rush and get a 9 to 5 to qualify for health insurance which is a huge cost savings. Can you imagine the hospital and clinic debt young folks would have accrued during Covid without Obamacare?. 4) Gay Marriage 5) Osama Bin Laden - Gone 6) Got the US out of the Great Recession and returned the economy back to low unemployment rates He’s done a great deal for our Nation. A failure to acknowledge that is dishonest.

The consensus is that where heads of state are concerned, precedence/rank is determined by length of time served as a head of state - it doesn't really have anything to do with level of influence. Obama was HOS for 8 years. QEII has been a HOS for 66 years. Remember the big D-Day commemoration in France in 2014? The guests arrived in order of precedence - the most important arriving last. The Queen was last to arrive - after Putin and Obama.
@30secondstomarsMBH
@30secondstomarsMBH 5 жыл бұрын
@@nasheti2864 Actually, she does. She's the UK's Head of State, and she actually has the power to do almost everything done by our government in this country. The only reason she seems to be (to outside people) just approving everything ,is because after the last Civil War, the UK refused to allow the Monarchy to be involved in politics. Therefore her power is in a way largely symbolic, but she's Head of State and not much can be done that affects the UK without it having to go through her first. However, now, she is unable to be involved in politics, symbolically. That doesn't mean if she wanted to, she couldn't get involved. By all means, she could. She has the right and the power to turn down and veto Bills and Laws if she wanted to. But as a nation we are tradition bound to disallow symbolically, the Monarchy to be involved in politics, this includes having public political opinions, includes voting, includes interfering with the creation of Laws and the business of Parliament. So, symbolically, she has little power, but technically, she has a LOT of power. She basically runs the country, in terms of technical power. But imagine, it's basically like she's symbolically transferred the ability to do so over to Parliament, without her involvement and said "I'll approve what you give me". It's a bit confusing for people outside the UK to get sometimes. It's hard for us, INSIDE the UK sometimes. On the issue of precedence, again, yes she does outrank everyone. The British Monarchy is basically, (whilst probably not the oldest monarchy in the world) the world's Premier Monarchy, and the British Royal Family, the Premier Royal Family. As such, she holds precedence over all others. When you come to this country, you are below her in terms of ranking, she goes first, she does things first, she talks first etc etc. Not 100% sure what it'd be like if she met other Monarchs outside the UK, because in terms of precedence she may have to curtsy first, but I've no doubt that considering the common world image of the British Royal Family, even if the UK falls to pieces in the future, no nation would allow its Monarchy to class itself as above the British Monarch when it comes to Royal Order of Precedence. Therefore, I've no doubt, even if Prince Charles or Prince William became King and went across to visit Monarchies, that they would have to bow to said Monarch, but rather, even in their own country, said Monarch would have to bow/curtsy to His Majesty. That's just my guess, but certainly in the UK, she outranks everyone. Also, though, technically, Leader of The Free World isn't an actual title. It's something we as people often use to describe the President Of The United States (though that power may or may not have waned over the last few years), because of the nation's position, and power, but it's not a title. He's technically just the President of a country. So, he will always be outranked, officially, by a Monarch.

One of the coolest, most generous things the Queen does is adapt to other countries' and their leaders' ways and customs. She knew that the Obamas were not as conventional as is the UK in this particular manner; henceforth, she put her arm around Michelle. She knew not only that Michelle wouldn't mind, but would actually welcome and return the gesture. Another demonstration of the Queen's respect for non-Commonwealth nations is that during 1991 when her ship was leaving harbor in Miami to return to England she waved her hand in the more relaxed manner, like we do. She is truly an awesome, one-of-a-kind human being for whom I have great admiration and respect.

Absolutely, although she was only "Queen Elizabeth II" of England, Ireland and Wales - the reason that there is a United Kingdom is because Elizabeth the first died without issue so her cousin, Mary Queen Of Scots son, James the Sixth of Scotland ascended to the other three thrones on the first Elizabeth's death. Of course, Elizabeth cut off James' mother, Mary Queen Of Scots, head but James didn't let thar stop him.

>MandyJMaddison - It was meant to be offensive! I watched the same video you did and I saw NO indication of "domineering" behavior. From the comments of others, neither did they! But YOU saw what we all missed. Just how is that? Is YOUR background of such gossamer gentility as to detect a pea under 20 mattresses? No? Then what?! Additionally, how the HELL would you know what social niceties he has and has not been "drilled in"? Clearly, (and understandably given your predilections), you have completely overlooked the fact that these are BRILLIANT PEOPLE! NO ONE with the academic credentials they possess, the levels of society they had already traversed, would EVER attend such a high profile event without taking every precaution against social faux pas! Do you actually believe in your little beehive world of assumptions that they would not, could not, call upon Ambassadors aplenty, proprieties coaches en masse to apprise them of protocol?! Nope. You see what you expect to see. The fact that it did never occur in physical reality being of no matter. You knew they are Black and did not derive from "high society', and that was all you needed. You could write your comment with your eyes closed. Indeed, you did.

It's an interesting point. It wasn't that The Queen changed her personality, she was always warm and with a wicked sense of humour. I remember one visit she made to an organisation connected with breeding cattle. The chairman was showing her around when she pointed to an odd looking piece of equipment and asked what it was. The chairman said, deadpan, 'It is an artificial cow vagina ma'am.' Her Majesty looked up at him, smiling, and said, 'Well, if I ask a silly question.......' I think that, like a lot of us as we get older, we don't mind showing more of ourselves. What is there to lose, and when you are The Queen, what is there to prove?
@Purplenpinkk
@Purplenpinkk Жыл бұрын
@@michaelmontagu3979 I feel like during the 80s and 90s she seemed colder and then after Diana's death she softened. I don't know. I understand that she took her role very seriously, and the idea that she should not be know to personally by the public, because that was not what the job called for. I'm not a "Royalist" - I'm American - but, I find it all very fascinating, and I admire The Queen for her dedication and discipline at doing something that she really had no choice in doing. I mean, she could have said "No" and done what Harry and Meghan did, but she was steadfast in fulfilling her destiny, no matter. People aren't like that anymore - Exhibit "A" - Harry and Meghan. I feel like King Charles is interesting, because I think he's always really wanted that role. To me, Prince William reminds me more of The Queen - like he is doing this to fulfill the role handed to him at birth. I think King Charles is going to modernize The Monarchy quit a bit - from what I've read and seen about him, I think he's very progressive and forward thinking. Prince William will continue that, but with shades of Queen Elizabeth. Sorry, I digress. I've seen videos of her, and for sure she had a great sense of humor.
@michaelmontagu3979
@michaelmontagu3979 Жыл бұрын
@Yesitsme Again, what you say is interesting and perceptive. The Queen knew what was expected of her, and was more in touch with the mood of the country than any politicians. That is how the monarchy has evolved and survived about 1300 years. Apart from the Commonwealth and Oliver Cromwell between 1649 and 1660. I think it's been public perception changing rather than anyone in the Royal Family changing. Actually I'm wrong. The King changed when he married Camilla. He became much more relaxed and funny when they married. She is such a lovely, warm and supportive lady, always looking out for him. As a historian, I'm of the opinion that in the long term, Diana's influence will seen to have been overrated. There are distinct parallels between her and Caroline of Brunswick, estranged wife of George IV. Very popular with the people, died relatively young and now, who has heard of her? The King has said that he is content for history to be his judge on that marriage. That's because so much that has been said and claimed is, frankly, malicious nonsense. When the papers are eventually made public, not for at least 100 years, he will be vindicated, and history will judge him more kindly and fairly than many do now. Did he want to be king? Yes, because it's his destiny and duty. He was born for the position and accepted that. But he dreaded the day when it happened, because it meant that his mother would be dead. Pleasure to have this exchange with you.

The Queen and the Obamas are friendly on a personal level. When Michelle and the girls were in London on their own The Queen gave them a tour of the palace, then arranged for them to have a drive around the garden in one of the Royal carriages. Before I retired in 2016 I had worked at Buckingham Palace for 30 years and don't remember that happening before.
