Love this! Rick Wright (PF keyboardist) was in this; In other performances and I believe on the album, David Crosby and Graham Nash sing background. Don’t think the lyrics are too deep, just beautiful emotions. Another reactor said “The lyrics are hugging me!” And yes, David Gilmour is the lead guitarist and lead singer.

Gilmore made like four solo albums and this was his best. "On an Island" featured Crosby and Nash as backup vocalists. Hauntingly beautiful! It was right after Pink Floyd's final masterpiece "Division Bells". You should look up Pink Floyd's real final album "Endless River" which was the instrumental outtakes of of Division Bells if only for the very last track. The ONLY non-instrumental song, but a fitting opus to perhaps the greatest band of all-time. Check the dates. Best tone of any guitarist! Since you play guitar you might want to check out my nine "Guitar Gods" series of books which feature the greatest guitar players in over nine genres of music. It also has the best music videos of the artists on You Tube.

First time hearing this for me. Great solo. slowly bending the string with that sustained tone. Great control. Love it. Excellent request thanks. Great reaction. I think the sound is better too. You have the straight audio in your cans, that’s the important thing.

Shear brilliance here! No one has more tone note for note, the best soul player. Actually two legends with Dave and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music fame, who also sing vocals along with ex PF keyboardist Rick Wright RIP! Loved your dissection . Dave's wife Polly Samson was co lyracist for this album. You should try The Blue of the album live, equally soulful, and the 23m epic Echoes' the final time it would be performed live as Rick has passed on.

Gilmour is a phenomenal guitar player. Eventually when you can, check out Pigs (3 Different Kinds) from the Pink Floyd album Animals. Excellent song. FANTASTIC GUITAR by Gilmour! You have good taste in music for someone your age. You give me hope for the future of all this great music! Keep it going. Sounds fine!

David Gilmour and Roger Waters were co-lead singers for the more successful years of Floyd. Syd Barrett was the lead singer in the early years. Gilmour took over for him, and the singing duties were shared between the aforementioned. Then after Roger left the band, Gilmour was the lead vocalist. Both Roger Waters and David Gilmour have had successful solo careers, but nothing compared to the juggernaut of Floyd in the late 60's through the late 70's. Although Gilmour's guitar work as you can see, is still ridiculous, his lyrical ability are nowhere near the lyrical genius of Waters; but his melodic knack for riffs and sounds make him a great writr of music, that said; many Gilmour songs are just kinda okay songs with awesome guitar solos. Still love every minute of anything Gilmour does, because it's normally spectacular. All just an opinion.

I agree 100% with this comment... usually people that like Gilmour hate on waters... but I do believe that with David's melodic, bluesy style of playing... and those notes that he chooses and just pierce your soul together with Roger's genius created some of the best music ever... But Waters had the passion, the wit, the outside of the box thinking and especially the ani establishment or anti system (machine) mentality that Gilmour has just absolutely no clue or interest in... he just makes chill cute music with no substance or elaborate concept... but still good for driving around or doing the dishes...

fantastic x1000, so glad you did this song/s, been trying to get someone to react to it for ages, just brilliant. Rick Wright the Pink Floyd keyboard player was also on this tour, during which they played the last ever live performance of Echoes, PF's 23 minute masterpiece, Rick died in 2008 and because he was so essential to the song Gilmour said he would never play it again without him. Pleeeease, you HAVE to react to it, its mindblowing, (Echoes live in Gdansk 2006). Peace bro.

Sometimes I think the lyrics are just intended to invoke images in our mind that enhance our ability to emotionally connect with the music. The experience just washes over you if you allow yourself have some emotional vulnerability to the music. It’s similar to the suspension of disbelief that is required to enjoy a fictional movie or novel. Gilmour is the more melodic player and singer. Waters has more of an edge and maybe anger when he sings/writes. It’s a great combination.

Daniel, got in late here but just wanted to add that Gilmour's debut solo album David Gilmour(1978) is regarded by most, including myself, as his best solo effort. The song There's No Way Out Of Here is as good as anything he did with Pink Floyd. Many fans thought that it was a deep cut from Wish You Were Here or Animals. He produced an album in 1976 for a band, Unicorn, and redid that original song of theirs .and it sounds more like Floyd than most Floyd songs do (especially the Waters's stuff). All 9 songs on this disc are really good and you can see an influence moving forward to his contributions to The Wall (1979). The lyrics to There's No Way Out Of Here are thought provoking and it's musically very haunting too, especially with it's subject matter. Was never lucky enough to see Floyd in concert but I saw Gilmour in a small venue on this tour and hope it's not sacrilegious to say this but I don't think Floyd could of been any better. Gilmour is one of the greatest guitarists of all time and his voice IS Pink Floyd and his songwriting is underrated and added so much to the impact of Pink Floyd.

I've always felt like the 2nd last track on his first solo album, the song "No Way" was a shot across Water's bow. "There's no way I'm going to let go , there's no way, because it's my show." "I'm hanging on for a little while, I won't go down easy, that's not my style."

Everything from David's 2006 tour is fantastic. Two concerts were filmed and released on DVD: 'Live In Gdansk' and 'Remember That Night (Live At The Royal Albert Hall)'. This video is from the Gdansk concert, but overall I think the 'Remember That Night' concert is better. A couple of highlights: - The Blue (Remember That Night) - Fat Old Sun (Remember That Night) - Then I Close My Eyes (Remember That Night) - Echoes (Remember That Night) - A Pocketful Of Stones (both concerts are great) - Where We Start (both concerts are great) - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (both concerts are great, Gdansk is slightly better) - High Hopes (both concerts are great) - Comfortably Numb (Live In Gdansk)

SIDECAR DOG & woody lol did you play in a band? When things weren’t working out musically, we used to say “ We need more fog” kinda like the “more cowbell” meme. There were only two kinds bands, Fog bands and Cowbell bands.
