Gilmour is Jesus, The conductor keeps the tempo for everyone, If you just left the orchestra to their own devices someone would go out of time most likely

I dont think so... The musicians are awesome too.

Stunning! But then I'd cross the world to hear David play on a broken guitar with only 3 unturned strings - the man has the voice, hands and soul of an angel.

You got subs cause your great at what you do! Also Floyd fans run deep. Keep up the great reactions! The conductor of the orchestra is very very crucial it looks like it’s easy but people get their masters in that. You have to understand the composition and each part and instrument. Just some FYI 😁

The conductor is like the dj or producer, except of a live orchestra instead of recorded tracks. He decides how fast or slow they play, what mood they play and how loud or soft (like, you can play the same piece jaunty and quiet, or smooth and loud and it would sound completely different). The conductor communicates to the orchestra what to do when and how through signalling with the baton. All the members of the orchestra watch him to keep track. That way the music sounds good because there's one person directing it. Without a conductor the orchestra would sound like a total mess.

The guy in front of the orchestra is called a "Conductor". His or her function is to keep all the musicians together and doing what they are supposed to do at the exact right time. He or she also can hear all the instruments together, so he or she can adjust the volume or intensity of individual instruments to create the proper end result. He or she knows every part that every member of the orchestra is supposed to be playing and when. He or she works during rehearsals to have the musicians work as one, instead of everybody being all over the place. I played trombone in an orchestra years back and when you are sitting on stage playing, it is hard for you to hear everything and know if your volume is proper, and many other things. The orchestra basically all face the conductor so you can look over your sheet music and watch the conductor to help keep time, and for volume instructions and such. The musicians can't see each other all the time, so you don't know what others are doing exactly. So the conductor's job is not an easy one, and it is a necessary one. If you watch live concerts, you will see musicians looking towards the lead one for time and the exact moment to do something important. David Gilmour in this video can be seen raising and lowering his guitar neck to indicate beat to the conductor, so he can lead the orchestra when to add their part so the audience hears a product that sounds together and in unison, not some a hair ahead, and some a hair behind the others so it sounds muddy.

Interesting bit of trivia... The guitar strap Gilmour is using used to belong to Jimi Hendrix. Gilmour's wife, Polly, bought it for him at an auction in 2006 and gave it to him for his 60th birthday.

Oh, so you think you can conduct an orchestra? ^^ you'd be crashing down big time!

conductor is telling them what time the music is in and also dynamics,,,how high/lo,,,how hard/soft,,,how quiet/loud etc

If you play in an orchestra, you can't hear what the others are playing. Think of an engineer at mixing a desk in a recording studio; a conductor does a similar function for the different sections of the orchestra.

The conductor indicates rhythms, breaks, and dynamics.

I just subscribed so I might be #546 lol. Anyway, since you liked this song by David Gilmour, here's another you might like by him with yet another great solo. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qa-RnNSc3c-6qYk.html The two old guys singing backup to Gilmour's right are Graham Nash, and to his right David Crosby who come from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, a band that goes back to the late 60's. They are guest singers at this concert.

Great song! never heard it before. The band conductor is ahead of the band - they are looking to him for instructions. It won't look like they are synchronized because they aren't. If you want subs quick Pink Floyd will get you a lot in a hurry. Studio, not live. Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody is a subscribe machine.

now react to Roger Waters - The Last Refugee and you understand the bulk of the Pink Floyd sound with these two giants (Waters and Gilmour) once played and wrote songs together.

The conductor is like "1,2,3,4 vup" and does a movement "out of tempo"... You know why ? Cause he is saying when someone has to attack (play) BEFORE the head of the tempo (the 1,2,3,4... ) So is strange cause he does certain moves that are out of tempo but...its to alert, to "say", to show when attack. If you want that the bass attack at 1, you do a movement at 4i.. What is 4i ? Its like subdivide 1iei 2 iei 3 iei 4iei ... 1 e 2 e 3 e 4 e ... Its an example. Its like math. Anyway... The conductor "hit" the i in his hand to the bassist does the 1 in his bass ...got it ?

You cant do what a conductor do, you never took a Bach's Note. Its difficult to conduct a lot of instruments with a lot of "pauses".
