Jagger's brilliant lyrics...'rode a tank, held a general's rank, when the Blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank'... there is no need for a devil. Humans are quite capable of being devils. Amazing song. Loved your reaction.

Well said. I like how when Jagger sings the word “stank” he emphasizes the “k” almost like he’s spitting it out.

My favourite part about the song is Keith Richard's guitar solo, fabulous tone but beautifully understated, compliments and enhances the song without overpowering it. Interestingly it's one of the reasons Slash was reluctant for GnR To cover the song because of how iconic the guitar riff is.

I love this song. This is a very dark song! Yet it is so appropriate in it's theme to the deception that hides the evil it sings of, so innocent sounding! Almost humorous. Until you actually listen to the words. It's brilliant.

Sitting around the house at beer-thirty in the afternoon, and I came across your review of this gem. The Stones have been around so long that their sound varies between RnB influenced rock, classic rock, Southern rock, and country rock. This is a rabbit hole worth exploring. They will amaze you. Fun fact: Mick Jagger(the lead vocalist)learned how to dance from Tina Turner. Love your reviews, and keep up the great work.

Remember, the Rolling Stones started out as an English blues band, immersing themselves in the underground UK blues scene that was trying copy and emulate the black American blues men from across the pond who they were influenced by and idolized during a time when those black artists recieved no love, appreciation or recognition in their own country at the time.

Great reaction. What you said at the end there about Kennedy... he actually says "Who killed the Kennedys?" plural. It's very cool and interesting that you thought he said or meant JFK only, because originally it was written early in 1968 as "Who killed Kennedy?", just JFK. However, they began recording the song at the studio on the 4th of June 1968. Two days later on June 6 Robert Kennedy was killed. They right away changed the line as it is today to "Who killed the Kennedys?".
