Sony XAV-AX3200would be similar price bracket to the DMX7709S. Or the Sony XAV-AX4000 is an option too, it has wireless CarPlay / Android Auto so is more expensive

Does this model have a capacitive screen or is it still crappy resistive screen? What is the resolution of the screen?

When using the hdmi cord or mode my screen is saying parking off what that mean? And why can’t I mirror screen my iPhone . I also have the Apple adapter

The parking brake wire on the Kenwood, needs to be connected to the emergency (parking) brake, or to chassis ground (grounding the wire bypasses the safety feature, do so at your own risk)

I have a Volkswagen cc 2014 with a kenwood 7709s with after market back up camera and I got that green wire hooked up to harnesses. I’m just trying to use my hdmi port to mirror my iPhone can you help with that?

This radio supports CarPlay and Android Auto, apps supported by these two platforms can be downloaded on the phone you use, but no apps can be added directly to this radio

Make sure you are using a genuine Apple branded cable.

@@LockdownSecurity only con to this radio is I have to keep buying new usb cable cords to play the CarPlay for some reason it burns them out fast and u will know when it’s time to buy a new usb cable the CarPlay will start disconnecting a lot smh

I have a question.... I am just used to using pandora (android phone) what doea the screen look like/show when playing Pandora? I have had a jensen vx7023 for a decade and it just died. I am trying to find a radio with everything this jensen has but thwy are all $1,000+ So no bluetooth connection to play music? I would have to plug in a cable every time? If so that is a no. I have no idea what android play, mistro and all the new stuff is

All the Kenwood brand multimedia radios have Bluetooth, so you can stream Pandora with no issue via that method, or plug the phone in and use the Pandora app.

sometimes mine says i need to connect my gps antenna, it is connected, if i turn the car off and re start the car it works. any idea what this is?

Possibly a bad location for the antenna or a loose connection.

with turn signal on, does side camera automatically show up?

No the radio does not have turn signal inputs, in order to have this function you would need to use a turn signal video switcher, such as the CRUX CSS-41, see link below: lockdownsecuritycanada.ca/products/crux-css-41-video-switcher-with-turn-signal-triggers-and-wireless-remote-control No Kenwood has turn signal inputs, we think this should be added as a new feature to new models, maybe they will at some point in the future.

Screen mirroring through USB is not possible with the iPhone, you would need to connect an Apple TV device to do mirroring.

Which cameras are compatible with it? Also, are the cameras different for the sides or is it the same camera?

Any standard definition camera will work with this radio. The radio has 4 video inputs for cameras, but does not come with cameras, you need to add these yourself. Side cameras (true side cameras) will have a different mounting bracket than say, a reverse (backup) camera.

Candidly we prefer the DMX7706S over the DMX7709S, Kenwood should have kept the same screen size and feature set of the DMX7706S or should have kept the DMX7706S around. This radio has a parking brake wire input, but the radio does not require the complex safety procedure that Alpine radios do.

That green park wire can be grounded to a screw on the exterior of the head unit. I just did this on the dmx7706s.

You have to load a photo on a USB key, then go into the screen settings to upload the photo as the radio screen saver.

Why does my radio keep shutting off when I have my phone plugged up playing Pandora & I turn my volume to 26? Can't turn my volume up past 25 without it cutting off!!!
