Fun fact, the director of In the Morning is Bang Jae-yeob. He is also the director of God’s Menu (SKZ), Back Door (SKZ), All In (SKZ), Gimme Gimme (NCT), and Breathe (Got7). You can see the resemblance in the style and it’s so unique :D (He is my fave director lol)

Yes, you made the connection - "in the morning" is based on the parlor game. Apparently there is a lot of clever wordplay related to that. I don't speak Korean but PD on Form of Therapy did a commentary about it .

The song at the end of the "Not Shy" music video is "Don't Give A What" and it's one of the bsides from the "Not Shy" mini album. :) It's one of my favorite albums of theirs together with "Guess Who" and "Crazy in Love". Ryujin’s shoulder dance is a literal work out😓. The way you describe Itzy’s music as being both hard hitting and cute is known as Teen Crush. Another group called Weki Meki coined the term but Itzy popularized it.

Mafia is in reference to the game, yes - at this time (and still) it was one of THE most popular games to play in variety shows, among kpop groups, and in the general public due to the success of Among Us in lockdown. Unfortunately in Korea the word was so closely associated with the game that the fact ‘mafia’ originally refers to a dangerous syndicate in other parts of the world was not so apparent to the label and there were some interesting discussions online as a result.

When you've mentioned on your previous live stream you prefer "aggressive" sound/concept (which is like, same girl), I first thought about ITZY! Their title tracks are stronger, darker than usual gg concepts that's why I stan them and Aespa. Made me feel more curious about how you'd react with ITZY! When I checked Dalla Dalla, I was not very enthused about Itzy but then Icy was released and that song made me really interested in them. It was such a catchy, fun and energetic sound and I loved the MV a lot. But Mafia (In the Morning) is what made me stan. I loved the song a lot and the MV, everything. Also, not sure if you know but Ryujin (the girl with short blue hair in wannabe) and Yuna (the blond girl in icy) were in the Highlight reels video from BTS.

Turn this one up. Okay, Itzy are those girls. I was worried because I really liked Dalla Dalla and no other song had come close to it for me for some time...then they dropped Not Shy. I liked Icy and I didn't care for Wannabe but, Not Shy? The way I was obsessively playing that song in 2020 was not a game 💀 I think that's where I realised Ryujin is my bias as well lol. Then they dropped Mafia in The Morning which I was wildly unprepared for and, it bulldozed all their other title tracks for me 💀

With Not Shy, as you said, it’s still very much as song about confidence. The bridge goes: Because I don't want to regret it Because I don't care how it ends Go, go, go pour out all you've got No, yes, no, whatever, it's fine Yeah, Doesn't matter how it goes Things work out except for the ones that won't Let's just be who we are Do what we do, do whatever you want They are basically saying, you can’t control the outcome, so don’t worry about it. Regardless it’s better to go for it and have no regrets. And that could be applied to more than just a crush. If Dalla Dalla, Icy and Wannabe are the “I Love Me” Trilogy, Not Shy is the epilogue that transitions them into a new phase. One thing about Itzy though, is they maintain the confidence!

People pick up on the shoulder dance but for me across their videos it's their hips. No one has hip movements like Itzy has hip movements. If I tried that I'd probably slip a disc or something lol. Also you picked up on their end poses but not sure if you picked up on what it is. They are all forming crowns on either their heads or another members. That's because they're the damn queens and they've been rightfully wearing those crowns since Day 1!

lol I literally disliked Dalla dalla and Icy at first but then they released Wannabe and that shit was my jam and because of that, I automatically enjoyed Dalla Dalla and Icy out of nowhere and became a fan of them! Really love their following title tracks (except for Mafia in the morning but still lowkey a bop) and Itzy just has that effect on us where they eventually have you jamming to their songs that you initially dislike lmao. I'm kind of nervous for Sneakers though (which is a comeback that they will be having this week) but I'm gonna hold on to Ryujin's words regarding to that and trust Itzy like the usual :D

We were introduced with royal concept and the way the promote Sneakers on Tiktok was the complete opposite of their first introduced concept which made me a bit hesitant like a lot of people felt. But now that they released the MV teaser for Sneakers, I'm pretty hyped up for!

ITZYYYY OMG OMG YAY!!!! Thank you SO much for choosing them in this series! You pretty much picked the best songs you could have reacted to! If you ever react to them on the future, SHOOT! is one of my favs!! It's more focusing on their lower register and it's everything! ITZY! When they say "we've got your back" I believe it. hahaha I really really do feel like they are the ultimate in uplifting confidence personal strength hype style. Like "I love myself" concept 100% killed it. And their energy in general is so positive and their dancing is so good. Loco is maybe their worst song?? I'm not saying it's bad, but I am excited to see this. :D P.S. - this is a group that watching the dance practices is sooooooooooooo satisfying. They ALL kill it. P.P.S. - I know how you feel about wanting to decide on your own terms and timeline about what music and artists you like - I waited on aespa and ended up loving them, even though I kinda didn't want to. hahaha But I needed to figure that out on my own and in my own time. So I definitely respect that for sure.

I like your reactions, because your opinion on different songs is usually polar opposites with mine😄when Not shy came out, that was it for me! Like of course I've heard their songs previously, and they were good, but Not shy made me stan them. Every single comeback after that was a 100% hit for me

Discovering these groups with you is probably why I like the 'first look' series so much. I got into kpop back in 2017, so while I know most of these groups already, seeing you react to them brings back the joy I felt when I discovered them myself.
