Ross Sherrod got out of boot camp in August of 2001. Ten days later 9/11 happened. He has an intense story of clearing hotels, hospitals, cemeteries, and houses in Iraq. He tells the story of saving lives and winning a medal. He also rodeoed with the one and only Dale Brisby! Get ready because you're not gonna wanna miss a minute of this story! Text "Podcast" to (940)353-0890 and lemme know what you think of this episode. I have more combat veteran friends if you would like to hear from them. Also visit DaleBrisby.com for the merch. Pow pow ol son!

Who is Dale Brisby!? Dale Brisby is a legendary bull riding gypsy soul that is always on to the next one! He crawls outta bed the same way he crawls into the bucking chute, ready to keep it 90! He loves spurring big brahmer necks for big money checks. you can find him at the pay window, behind the bucking chutes, in the chute, or even busting broncs and tearing down honky tonks! He's been 90 in Maine, Spain, Spokane, and Ala-bame! Thank you for taking a moment to enjoy his shenanigans on the road, at a rodeo, or at home at Radiator Ranch! We all know that one guy who's always playin. You find yourself wondering every time he opens his mouth if its a serious story or another joke. You think to yourself, "You play too much! But it is funny. And you're good looking. And I want to name my kid after you. And you're a legend. And I want you to kiss my wife on the mouth!" Well that guy is me! Sometimes when I open my mouth, I don't even know if what I'm about to say is credible, so I can't imagine how you feel! However, if it isn't true, it otta be! Thanks again for joining!

I joined the Corps in 1979 and stayed for 20 years. I remember very early in my career listening to Viet Nam Vets tell that same story about using the Then C Rat box for a toilet. Either it's a well worn Sea Story or there are a lot of Marines crapping in boxes. Must be all those crayons.

Thank you for your service sir! Great podcast! My dad is also a Marine and fought in the first major battle in Vietnam. 8/1965 op Starlite / Piranha …. They came on beach and the trained North Vietcong were everywhere. Chi Li. Some crazy fighting but the Marines won that battle, The Battle as it’s told on a documentary. Anyway THANK YOU for your service Ross, God Bless

My son-in-law, a Marine, was on 2 tours in Iraq about the same time as Ross. He had similar experiences but I can't talk with him about it because it ramps up his PTSD. He & his platoon spent several months at Camp Pendleton "decompressing" before they were discharged.

Mr. Sherrod is a remarkable human being. I wish he would share what he has to say about guns to more individuals because he's absolutely correct and he articulated so well. It is very good to have one, but in reality you hope you are never in a situation where you might have to use it. He has such a remarkable story. I have to wonder how he feels about getting out of Afghanistan. With all my heart, Thank You Ross for your service. God Bless You.
