About us:
We're Jodie and Joe and after years of searching for a new home, we realised that London can't offer us the lifestyle we dream of.
We've quit our jobs and sold our home, and are no longer tied to London, or even the UK.
So we bought our 2018 Peugeot Boxer and began our renovation to turn it into our perfect little home on wheels.
As we travel and explore each new place, we will be creating a list of 'must haves' to help us find the perfect place to call home.

Stealth overnight suggestion: (1st stop) Eat, brush teeth, etc., get bed & curtains ready. (2nd stop) drive another mile or so, park, DON'T exit the vehicle. Go to bed, using lowest light possible. Next morning, either prepare breakfast, or drive off, depending on the vibe of the location. Good luck!

if its dark outside and you have the lights on even with tinted windows anyone passing can see inside,on the other hand if its daylight outside with no lights on inside no one can see in unless they've got their face against the window:)

It was a Leesa mattress which is the same thing as Simba I believe

Just wondered are you keeping an eye on your vehicle weights on this build, sometimes it can be overlooked and domestic materials for houses can be unsuitable for a van conversion. Looks like a 3.5t max van too me max weight and axle weights are on a plate under the bonnet, you need to be careful and factor in water etc for when you want to go away on longer excursions. Liking the videos.

I would say the hardest part is deciding what to do. So much relies on having already done something, which relies on already having done something... It becomes hard to know where to start. A task list is a big recommendation from me! - Jodie

The wood was actually already on the van when we bought it. It's not a great fit, but works in some places and can be redesigned in others. We just painted it white - I think it's ply wood 😂- and screwed it on to the holes that were already there. ☺️

Cushions look great, don't worry about getting everything done, just enjoy it. About the obligatory tongue and groove - we're sorry to see you haven't used the obligatory exposed counter sunk screws, you don't have any wobbly screw lines, splintered wood through over tightened screws😂😂😂but now you have set a new obligatory standard - thank goodness, keep up the good work 👍👍👍 By the way when stealth camping put your blackout curtain to the back of the seats, so from outside it looks like an empty van ❤️🚐❤️

Thank you so much 🥰 Yes we are currently making the curtains so they cover everything. I seem unable to force fabric into the correct shape - I am not at all good at sewing! 😂 There are many splintered bits from overzealous hammering - just don't look too close at things and you're good 👌- Jodie 💕

Velcro is very usefull too ......put some at the sides of the van and on the curtain then it should stick ok .....and leave it behind the front seats not over them for a more stealth look .....also when cooking leave the side door open to let out any steam! Maybe dont be so paranoid about people looking at you when parked up! The worse that can happen is someone reporting you but if the van is legal there isnt much the police can do ......we usually park up late and leave early take all our rubbish with us ...leave no trace youve been there and your there really .....good luck

In Englandshire I believe you can park anywhere but can't sleep in it. Scotland you can park and sleep anywhere as long as you're a mile away from a house

Hmm, I read that as long as you obey parking restrictions and traffic laws, you can park and sleep in a camper in England. I will do some more research!! 😳😊

@@JodieandJoe it’s ok was worried because I missed two tiny spots of vapor in the roof and in January it was dripping right through the insulation ruined my cladding and I had to rip everything down :( was awful 😞 your van looking lovely ☺️

@@JodieandJoe no never in uk - fwiw I had the knock only once before - it was at 2am on the outskirts of amsterdam - wild camping is illegal in holland and I guess a resident complained. a copper turned up and knocked (politely) - he explained to me the rules - I said sorry I didnt know the rules (which I didnt) - they said ok and allowed me to stay the rest of the night on the promise I would move along in the morning. fwiw I do this a lot ... mostly staying in suburban cul de sacs and quiet residential estates etc... or... in town at big major shops like tescos etc. once I parked for 2 nights at a macdonalds in paris and biked into town every day along the river seine... glorious ;)

You put the ceiling panels up before the foil vapour barrier? Did you forget or deliberately decide not to install? (Same on walls, they also need lining with the same bubble foil barrier)

@@JodieandJoe . well not quite, you really ought to take all the ceiling down and all the wall cladding back off to apply the vapour barrier and also to avoid the thermal bridging where some areas are still just metal. have a look at some of Greg Virgoe's build videos, here is a good one to start with that explains exactly why you need to go back a stage to get it right. I hope you don't see this as criticism, I just don't want you to regret it later. love the content you are producing so far, thanks for the time and effort you put into it

I made temporary ones out of cardboard and left over blackout material, but they are not strong enough for long term use. 🤔 I need to get some kind of lightweight, sturdy material to cut to shape and wrap the fabric around, so we can add magnets and clip it on ☺️ -Jodie

I don't understand why you have partly blocked the side sliding door...you won't be exiting....through the back door...

It works for us - enough room to get in and out easily and extra counter space ! We could have done the kitchen on the other side but wanted to be able to sit by the window to work 😍

That is the most common layout for van builds. Most people do that.

It's not an offence to sleep in your van, but it's the location that's important. “For example, you can't expect to pull up and park on double yellow lines.” Look for a safe place to park. It is legal to do so on residential streets but be aware of any parking restrictions. Well done on your build so far.

That's what I gathered from researching it. As long as you obey traffic laws and parking restrictions, and are not on private property - you're good to go. But people don't like it. They are often judgemental of Travellers, and though we are not, the prejudice extends sadly.

@@JodieandJoe I built my van 2 years, ago and was the same as you were on my first few nights out. Now I sleep anywhere that is legal for me to do so. 90% of your reaction is just a bit of first time paranoia. As long as your not playing music, running generators or leaving a mess people won't bother you. Arrive late, leave early and you won't have any issues. Stay safe!

Just park anywhere that is legal and as long as you are respectful you are good. Remember if you aren't causing an obstruction, it's a civil matter not Police.

You can be moved on by the police if they feel its unsafe for yourselves or other people. We fulltime in a motorhome and park in factory estates and on roads etc.

Hi! It may seem strange, but it works for us. I have a genetic condition that affects my joints, and I need to shift around into different positions rather often to avoid subluxations and pain. Having a full bed area lets me do this more comfortably. A lot of my time in the 'living area' will include me on the bed working, reading, ect. as it is more supportive. We also plan to spend a lot of time outdoors, and want to install a mini outdoor table! 🔆 - Jodie 😊
