Mr Russ to I'm sure you figured it out by now but the purpose of turning the wheel is to prime the vacuum chamber. The seed is just sitting there until the plate sucks the seed up.
@Thomasfarmstn
@Thomasfarmstn 2 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s to prime it. My old planter was hydraulic drive and I just had to hit a button on the monitor to prime it.

I always think about following behind my daddy while he was planting corn on a hillside in Lincoln county, Tennessee while watching a high tech planter like yours Russ. His was a single row pulled by a mule. The good ole days. 👍👍

On that planter if you change the pressure in the little wheel that drives the meters and transmission you can dial you population right in. If you want a little more seed lower the pressure if you want less seed pump it up. Good luck.

The manual calls for 40lbs. We are not too off on my target. One side does put out more seed though.

Good to see you're getting some seeds in the soil. Yep, all of those bells & whistles on the new planter are nice compared to the older more mechanical planters but, so many things constantly letting you know there might be a problem. Hope you have a safe planting season there Russ. Take care.

Russ, I have a lot of respect for you and your patience. I put beans in with a International 510, 21 hole drill and my corn planter is a John Deere 1250, 6 row on 30" centers. Yes, I am old 😁 . 👍🇺🇲🚜🌱☕😉

I have the same monitor and atu300. I thought the same thing you could only engage with the button on the ATU. There is a wire connector somewhere on your harness that you can put a foot switch on. It’s wayyyyy better than that stupid button. I also got tired of using the same auto steer monitor for the planter and bought a secondary monitor so my steering screen was separate from my planter I think the second screen kit was $1500 from Deere
@Thomasfarmstn

That’s good to know Ray. I may eventually put Precision Planting on it to monitor the planting.

Man yeah, planting is here!!! That was awesome to see your wife helping out, I finally conned mine into a road trip and making a debute as well on a video!! 😁😁😁😁 Well I know that the new planter has some things that it takes getting used too, and the ground conditions weren't the best ...but man 🤔😳 Hopefully you will get it all worked out, I could tell the uncertainty in your closing of the video. Can't even imagine going through that on a brand new piece of equipment 😳They don't care about quality control much anymore....and that last picture too 😳😳😳😳 Thank you Russ for bringing us along, and hopefully it's just the newness that needs to be situated 😁😁😁 Look fwd to to hearing how it did that next day!! 😁😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍

My grandfather had two john Deer planters and international tractor's they both were 30in rows, and they had plates for corn and soybeans . He also mixed up the same thing that you did. I don't know what it's called, but he used the same thing everyone around has already started planting corn and soybeans, and they are starting to come up already about two to three weeks ago have a great weekend and a great night 👍👍

Good morning Russ to me for what you pay for that planter there should not be issues that your having. The laches that should not have left the factory with such issues let alone the dealer hands they should have beenout there making sure all is well. I know you said there on it but to me that's disappointing. Enjoyed your video as allways. See you then.

How fast can you run? Is that a high speed planter with the conveyor system for the seed? Glad to see this model run
@Thomasfarmstn
@Thomasfarmstn Жыл бұрын
No it’s not a high speed. I don’t have any fields that smooth to run fast in, lol! But after the Crop Critic explained he had the speed tubes because the seed was more consistent. I may look into buying them. I run 4.3-4.5 mph.
