Very Nice! Some of the finest longsword fencing I've seen on KZfaq. I like how practically every single fighter showcased utilized a great deal of lateral movement rather than linear movement seen in most longsword fencing videos. This really pays off as there are so few double hits. Nice work Blood and Iron, keep it up!

I kinda wanna see one hema school face off against another school to the death to see once and for all which will survive, a bloody battle that fills the gutters with blood, excrement and the stench of rot and death All in all great vid though

Cool video. Perhaps you would do better to fix the camera to the chest or bib area, thus the high guard moves would not obstruct the view.

I was looking at the wrestling between Sean Franklin and Stephen Kime, and, it seems to me (because it's hard to see), that Sean grabbed Stephen's arm, which locked Stephen's sword next his neck, allowing him to manipulate him and leaving his sword hand free to stab at his face... however, Stephen does have the other arm free from the lock, wouldn't that be dangerous for Sean too, if Stephen releases the sword from his locked arm's hand and just slices his neck with the free hand?

Possibly, but there's a counter to everything. No technique is infallible :)
@Philoglossos

The thing you have to keep in mind is that all techniques have counters, but the counter only works if it happens in time. This is a friendly sparring match so he wasn't going to ram his sword point into the other guy's mask, but in actual combat, while there are a number of ways the opponent could have countered the technique, it happened before he could apply any of those counters. You see this in Fiore dei Liberi's stuff a lot - he shows techniques out to often five or six counters (each technique countering what comes before it), but generally at speed you won't get through all of them because one of them will land properly before the counter can be applied, and then the fight is over.

Patryk_O you do know that HEMA is the most realistic you can get with sword fighting right? it's basically the same thing that people in the 1400s practiced.
@Patryk....

HEMA could be realistic if practice by someone who has a clue about real combat.

hahahahahaha. Here we have the perfect example of the typical internet warrior, who has no idea what he's talking about, but thinks he can criticize highly trained swordfighter based on his long experience of animes and hollywood movies. These guys know how to fight, trained for years and learned techniques from medieval and Renaissance fighting treatises. This type of fight is the most realistic possible, based on actual sources, but well if Patryk_O the wise says it's not realistic, well we should all bow down and accept his words as gospel. You have no clue about this, man, don't embarass yourself.
The longsword duel from THE KING is on point.
