The problem with using 'first-rank symptoms' to diagnose schizophrenia is that disorganized, catatonic and negative symptoms are not represented at all. It only pointed to the paranoid subtype.

So this video is for students not for the sufferering right? When the wordage "bizarre" was used, it prompted the question.

Hi, the videos are designed for students learning about mental health and the first rank symptom criteria rather than aimed at those experiencing it. However, that being said it is useful feedback to know that the use of the word "bizarrre" felt notable. I wouldn't want to make any assumptions about how this made you feel but thank you for raising it and I will try to note this feedback in further videos. If you have any suggestions for a term you would find preferrable please do let me know.

@@PsychStudent thank you for the reply. Since assumption is the lowest form of knowledge, it's great that you mentioned not assuming. Thank you. I'd like to shed light on the factors behind my question proposal; Words like 'bizarre, crazy, weird' are sometimes triggering for those who suffer. Because others are essentially being taught along their journey on how to eventually help those who are suffering, refraining from 'trigger-talk' should be noted. Although there are so many facts and terminology, study cases etc to study in this field, compassion and empathy, along with psychological understanding of each individual help-seeking person is paramount not only for success but also for the help-seeking and their progress. So, in conclusion, practicing inclusive words, gentle words, generic/ bland words while speaking to or about those suffering from psychosis, schizophrenia, etc, is indeed helpful as it aides in reassurance that someone understands, it reassures that those suffering are not being condemned or judged also they can concentrate on what is being said and not how it is being said, )because it isn't a factor when triggering speech isn't used), the students learning will refrain from such words because they weren't taught with those words etc. While videos are I'm fact uploaded for a certain audience, please keep in mind that those who type in key words will also be viewing and hopefully growing from expertise💓 That is why I asked if this video was uploaded with the intent that students only would be viewing or if it were intentionally for non-students. I truly hope and trust that this was helpful.
