New railroad company operating old historic locomotive for first time. Cincinnati Eastern Railroad purchased an historic locomotive from TTI Railroad and this was the first revenue run. The General Electric B36-7 was pulling an SD45 and a gondola car. The car was set off on a railway siding for Cohen Recycling in Macon, Ohio. Then the 2 locomotives ran lite to Mount Zion to switch out a tank car from a line of storage cars. The SD45 and tank car were left at the east end of Mt Zion and the locomotive ran long hood forward west to Winchester Ag Services and shut down on their grain spur. This is part 1 of 2 parts since there was a lot of footage. Part 2 will be done in a week or so when I get back to Ohio. Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET leases 69+ route miles of track from Norfolk Southern Railroad on an old Norfolk & Western Railway line in southwest Ohio. Filmed October 22, 2018. Check out Cincinnati Eastern Railroad on FaceBook for more information and check out my playlist also. Temperature was in the 50s and breezy. Part 2 for this video is here: • First Run, Part 2, Cin...
UPDATE: July 8, 2024 Regional Rail LLC took over ownership of this line. A derailment happened on day 4. The B36-7 in this video has been out of service for a couple years. The SD45 was moved out west a few years ago. Cohen Recyling closed down about a year ago. This video is now rare history.

They are still using CCET LLC with the new name Cincinnati Eastern Railroad. You are correct. The other loco was just being pulled. It is there in case it is needed and also for when they pull the grain loads and the scrap metal loads. I'll be filming Part 3 before I ever make part 2. Part 2 will show them pulling a single tank car out of a line of storage cars and then the locomotive returning long hood forward at track speed. That B36-7 really is cool looking when it is running long hood forward but I know the crew has a hard time seeing because of the wings. They slow down at the crossings and give plenty of horn action. The horns on the B36-7 sounds a lot different than the other engines.

The horn remind me of C36-7s in China, where they are called ND5, the 5th model of 内燃(Nei ran, internal combustion)电传动(Dian chuan dong, electric transmission). There are still some of ND5s doing their job, but the number is getting less.

Interesting fact: When the unit was still on the CSX roster, #5895 was the first diesel to be painted in the YN2 livery. Despite replacing the ex-ARR GP49s (my all-time favorite engines in Cincinnati), I say thay this unit fills the void that the GP49s left and help add to the colorful rail scene in Cincinnati.

that sd45 number 332 is a sd45-2 that was originally a sdp45 that got rebuilt with a sd45-2 hood. Former Montana Rail Link locomotive and that b36-7 is worth the catch and chase.

Well that's where 332 ended up. Last time I saw it it was in Montana. As far as 5895, it may have the honor of being one of the locos that has seen the Southernmost point on the CONUS rail system. SBD on occasion sent them to Homestead. They were new units back when I qualified to operate on the branch with our steam engine.

I've been doing some reading on TTI. They were known as Transkentucky Transportation Railroad, Inc. The railroad hauled freight between Paris, KY and Maysville, KY. CSX acquired TTI in 1991 and has been operating the railroad since then. The railroad historically hauled coal from a transloading facility on the Ohio River in Maysville. Since that contract expired, there's been almost no traffic for the railroad. In 2017, the railroad had decided to go out of business and put their old GE fleet up for sale. CCET got a hold of a couple of those former TTI locomotives. I'm wondering what CCET plans on doing with those old Alaska Railroad locomotives they have.

Oldest track I found was from 1913, it was left in a pile from when a section of mainline was converted from triple track down to just double, but the railroad never bothered to remove the pile. One of the things is that the EMD is on six wheel trucks so they spread the load. When SBD had bad track, they would run two SDs on a train that might have one car and a caboose. Now I'd be happy to just see a train on the line even though they just rebuilt a grade crossing so the State could widen the road to 4 lanes. They have been down and cleared Irma's damage and sprayed the tracks to kill off the weeds.

I love the horn on that B36. What railroad did it first belong to? Like what railroad was it built for?

Pretty sure it was a Seaboard unit when it was born. Horn is a Leslie S5T-R, I believe.....
