Hello, my dear viewers and subscribers !
I've always enjoyed watching the development of modeling, watching how technologies evolve and the market for their applications. As if quite recently, literally yesterday, 4-stroke engines entered the RC model market, first Kalt FC-1, then OS with FS60, than Enya with 35-4C, and finally, Saito released their first version of the 4-stroke engine. Meet - this is the first 4 stroke engine Saito FA 30 with open rockers. Somewhat later, Saito upgraded her firstborn, and Saito FA 30 MKII came out. Both this engines were from 80's era, so old enough to becomes real treasures and highly welcomed in any RC engines collection. I was lucky to become the owner of these beautiful engines, and today I am pleased to introduce them to you.
Thank you for watching and have a nice day !

Like you, I love to watch the rocker arms move on my Saito engines. And slow it down on the video in post-processing. 🤣I bought my first Saito in 1977, and still have it.

Thank you very much for your comment ! Definitely, we're from the same batch of production run 🙂🙂🙂 Saito making great engines, no doubt, sometimes it happens, and some design flaws occurred. Anyhow, Mr. Gen Saito was a real and a great man, from the capital letter. Thank you and have a nice day !

3:40 Top tip on hand starting Saitos: Prime them heavily, roll them past compression but before the exhaust valve opens, energize the glow plug, then whip them backwards. 99% of the time they'll fire forwards with enough oomph to start right up. You can see me do this on my Super Tiger G3250 that I have uploaded and on my FS70 Surpass bench test video. That prop also looks way too big for a 30 4-cycle. I'd use a 9-6, 9-7 two blade on one.

Thank you very much for comment and for the great advice ! Yes, the prop is too big for 0.30 4 stroke engine, I know, and this was mentioned in the video. The reason was very simple - bigger inertia due to the bigger pro size, to make engine idling slower. It wasn't a bench run for figures or else, just for fun and for possible visual comparison of the two very similar but still different engines. I wasn't found video story somewhere with a visual comparison, so decide to make it, like a part of a 4 stroke engines history. Thank you and have a nice day !
