I must say your channel is rapidly becoming my favorite automotive channel, and I’ve watched all the majors, but there’s something better about yours. Cool random cars from yesteryear, and we get to watch them run and drive while simultaneously taking a deep dive into it’s respective history. Super cool formula. Oh and that throttle linkage looks like it’s held together by an erector set, but if it works why not

My uncle had this model . It was a beauty as I remember as a 10 year old in the early 60s. It was very roomy and quite fast!!!

I just found your page, and I'm happy to finally find someone on KZfaq who works on the old Dodges. I'm in the process of rebuilding a 325 Hemi (with a 3x2 intake and carb riser) for my 56 Dodge Lancer Custom Royal.

I had a 1958 Coronet with the 325 poly, like yours. I carried a 16 oz ball pein hammer to smack the starter when it would not engage.

That 2bbl Carter BBD did not change much over the years… 😮Seen in your other videos too, nice home and plot of land, looks peaceful ☺️

Cool sedan- I like all the vintage stuff, but coupes & wagons have gotten "All the love" over the last decade or so. Sedans = Parts cars for far too long. Good to see more are getting attention these days

Finally, somebody else with a 57 Dodge coronet. Love these exner mopars. I've got another rare 57 coronet, d500 4 barrel hemi, stripper model. No options other than the big hemi, taxi/police issue suspension and brakes. No outside mirrors, no radio, no parking brake warning light even.

Always have a spray can of "mechanic's helper." LOL Never heard of a Dodge Texan before.

Cast iron Torqueflite. Great transmission, too. It had center plane brakes, 2 leading shoes up front. The drums have to be removed with a puller in the back.

I have to admit, I wasn't sure if that thing was going to start it was setting for a long time but as usual you got it going. Nice looking car though. Keep up the good work keep those videos coming

Hey july 23 is when I found and bought my coronet! Cool timing. Mines a 1971 in gold with the 318/auto and factory air. Love your channel and the work you're doing. Keep it up! I'm also a big fan of Swiss army knives, grew up with my dad and brothers all using them!

Nice job on that '57. Those were nice cars & I remember them well. BTW, is that s ,'61 Plymouth wagon under that carport? Funny thing, my family had a same color green '61 when I was a teenager. We took a trip to Florida in it in 1967. Yep, very similar to the movie with Chevy Chase. Lol Anyway that was a fine car. Wouldn't win any beauty contests but it was a good runner. I drove it when I turned, 16 & got my license. I remember it had a really cool speedometer. Also recall putting a fuel pump in her. 3 bolts & the gas line. Easy peasy. Anyway nice job on the Dodge & good luck with future projects.

Also good tip that vent tube at the top of the carburetor. If you put fresh gas into that carb and fill the float bowl that way along with a few drops down the carb throat, you won’t need any starting fluid ever the only time starting fluid is really needed is if there’s an ignition problem or really low compressionI avoid using it as much as possible. Just advice not criticism great video.

Great CAR! Hey that screw driver (Pocket knife) wasn't in the list of "The only things you need to start an old car" LOL. Sorry for giving you a hassle but it completely depends on what the si like as in the shape it's in mechanically as to what you will need to get an old car to start. The car many have some old hoses that are rotten or wires that are not connected or broken it may have vacuum leaks from holes left off for some reason it might have a clogged up carb etc. I was glad to see that you included the sand paper or emery cloth etc to sand the points as SO many "Will it start" Videos don't seem to think of this until long after trying everything else to start it.

Chrysler Dodge? Well, those are nice looking lemons 🍋 with open hood. We learn mechanics with each Chrysler.😅.

Went back to the walk around video - nice strong car! It’s nice that the interior isn’t a pit - I understand Chrysler replaced a lot of ‘57 cloth under warranty, so it’s rare to come across any with serviceable original upholstery - but too bad the PO didn’t try a little harder to mimic the original. Not many of those old Chryslers around ! I recall seeing these on the road back in '66- '67 . Alot of them were junked by the 1970s or just simply wore out for one reason or another . Today , any original or restored survivors are highly prized especially at auto shows . Let's keep some around instead of sending them to the crusher , right ? Happy Motoring !

You need to put some oil on that distributor wick in the center and lubricate the cam 😮

My grandparents had a '57 Dodge. Did Dodge's have an alternator in '57? They came much later for Ford and GM. I seem to remember my Father-in-law telling me the original '63 1/2 Mustang had a generator which was replaced by an alternator in '64. Great video.

Those were a special optioned cars to certain TX dealers who had some pull. Problem was other dealers raised hell over this & it was canceled. They were available in '55-'56 but as far as I knew they were gone by '57.

Lovely car. All the important things are there: bodywork, glass, seats, and, strangely, headliner. Mechanicals are easy to fix. But seriously... A car that only on sale in Texas? If you want something really rare check out the Dodge Rhode Island. They only made one before they worked out that it was too big to fit in Rhode Island... Troodat! 🇬🇧👍

Battery is almost dead,,,you can usually tell by the engine turning over very slowly,,Also you shouldn't need to keep poring starting fluid down the carb,,,,Much better for the engine if you put some petrol in the carb,,

Use brake cleaner instead of starting fluid. That ether just dries those cylinder walls up.

If I may give you the same advice I gave "Vice Grip Garage" many years ago. Please ditch the starting fluid and prime your long sitting engines with chainsaw mix. Those cylinders need the instant lubrication until the oil starts getting splashed around. Great to see the Texan spring to life. Now all you need is a "Le Femme" to go with it!

Tap that starter with a hammer, the solenoid is dying, yep you'll need replacing the starter.

In Canada, Dodges were rebadged Plymouths.

It's best not to open and close the points on the power is on without grounding the coil wire because that high voltage has to go somewhere and it may ark internally within the coil which will ruin it. The car is in really good shape is it an older restoration or an original car that's just been sitting?

I am sure that you will get that Texan back on the road without too much trouble or expense. You will need to budget some extra money though...for a Stetson hat! 😅
