After about the 10th time he just bumped the starter I found myself yelling at the screen. "Turn the M effer over gosh dang it!"

What the hell does 'crank it over' mean? Like, "Hey BUBBA... crank it over DUDE?" What does that mean???

@@beeleo It means turn the key to start and let the starter motor run for a few seconds instead of just barely bumping the key to start then off.

to those that are not aware of starting a rebuilt looper motor he is priming the carbs till they aall are getting fuel then fires it right off, if you watch you can see him squirting fuel into carb intakes. Now that the system is primed it will fire right off first turn over.

Loop charged combustion, the intake air is directed to do a loop into the cylinder, as opposed to a "cross flow"...which as you can guess.......

Thank you for explaining that, my humble Mercury 125 outboard does the same thing. Everytime it pops but doesn't start it stops cranking. I thought there was something wrong.

It is obvious that the readers questioning the starting Technic do not know how a starter works. With each attempt to start you can hear a single cylinder fire. When the cylinder fires it disengages the starter drive and the starter must be stopped and let the starter dive reengage. Being a new engine with lots of oil in the cylinders from assembly, it took a lot of priming to get it firing on more than 1 cylinder.

Battery probably weak going below 12 volts and solenoid drops out.

port starboard - That was NOT what he was doing. He had the ignition hot and if you didn't want an engine to start when you cranked it, you certainly wouldn't be squirting fuel into it with a hot ignition. You break in fresh piston rings with the engine running, by the way. You'd burn up the starter trying to do it by cranking without starting it.

Leon, I had one of those Monster Kawasaki 3 cyl. 2 stroke 500cc motorcycles. It was like a Death Wish on two wheels. I got two separate speeding tickets, on the same day, on the same street, one eastbound, one westbound, from two different cops on that beast of a bike.

@jack MeHoff Looks and sounds like a 2 stroke to me so no oil pressure just oil in the fuel and the mixture through the crank case to lube the bearings.

@jack MeHoff uhh this 2 stroke has no lifters only ports the pop kicks the Bendix out it is a safety feature to keep from killing the starter if he held the starter after the pop it would just free spin it has nothing to do with building oil pressure
