First start of my Toyota Corolla AE92 with 4A-F engine after the conversion to Solex C40 ADDHE carburettors. Completely new setup for this engine. The carbs were rebuild and still need to be adjusted and tuned.

@Bloffan15 ай бұрын
Well, the car has been on the dyno before the conversion and after the conversion. It gained about 18hp at the crank and the whole power and torque curve are much nicer and more useable throughout the rev range. The throttle response is excellent too! Milage did go down a bit though, but that was to be expected 😆Don't have hard numbers on it yet, but I reckon it would be around 1 litre to 10 km's

@@Bloffan1 I meant the cost.
@Bloffan12 ай бұрын
@@SweetWrapsGarage Well, believe it or not but I tried to keep it on a tight budget. I used secondhand carbs that I rebuild and I had to source the right jets and venturi's, trumpets and filters for those. I had to make the throttle linkage from scratch, and got the intake from malaysia (which is on the other side of the world for me). So that alone I'm in about €900 Euro. Which isn't all that bad considering that new Webers would have cost €600,- each, and I would have still needed to buy filters etc. Besides that I had to install the electric fuel pump and installed new wiring, fuses, relays and a cut-off switch. This isn't really necessary to make it all work, but if you want to do it right, that's the only way to go if you ask me. So all in all, I think it cost me about €1200,- or close to it.

aint 4 barrel a bit overkill for a daily driven car? how big the venturi? 40mm?

A barrel for each cylinder seems only fair to me 😁 These are 40mm carbs with 30mm venturi's

Nice! I got some questions if you don’t mind me asking. Planning on being the 2nd to do this to a 5sfe, but I lack some knowledge. Now there is a standalone ecu built for 3sgte mr2s/Celicas which will fit on my 5s, but the thing is I want to keep my car NA. My question is can the standalone work and be reprogrammed for NA purposes, or will I have to go Safc and not be able to get the most out of ITBs (according to the forum opinion of safc)?
@Bloffan19 ай бұрын
Well, my car is running carbs, so no ECU of any kind is needed. You are talking about converting to ITB's (which look a bit the same with the trumpets). So not really relevant to the video you are reacting to, but to answer your question: Any standalone ECU can be programmes however you want. That's the beauty about going to a standalone management system. You just need someone to do that for you, who knows what they're doing with programming and tuning.

This intake manifold was it specifically for a 4af or was it a 4age manifold?
@Bloffan18 ай бұрын
This intake manifold is specifically for the 4A-F. If it would have been for the 4A-GE it would not have fitted. Different port sizes and bolt patterns for the flanges between those engines.
