My 7th grade Home Ec teacher, Mrs. Darling, instilled a sense of fear and failure in me regarding sewing. At 51 I am finally ready to learn to sew and I LOVE the fact that your site shares the name but has already helped me to believe that I can make friends with my sewing machine and experience success with needles and threads. Thank you!

I feel like a "noob". Five years ago, I took a Sewing Class & Fashion Designing Class. I had so much fun and I loved it. Unfortunately my sewing machine broke and I couldn't afford to replace it. I got one this Christmas (five years later) and I can't remember how to do anything but hand sewing :( I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I am doing something wrong! Thank you for the video, I am going to keep practicing :l

Thank you for this. When I bought my machine after never sewed before it was pretty daunting , it has helped a lot. I don' t understand why people need to be rude. If you watch the video closely , it's actually basic common sense. Try watching the video once or twice then go through the threading process step by step, whilst pausing at each step. So thank you again for showing this.

why when it's time to show the how the spool goes in the bobbin does the camera zoom out? that's a critical part that I can't figure out or see in the freaking video.

I would like to suggest deleting this video and doing it again. Every time I needed to see something specific, the camera-person cut away to a full shot of her instead of keeping it zoomed in (like putting the bobbin into its holder-thingy). I'm a 50-year old male trying to teach my 8 and 9 year old daughters how to sew, and the last time I did any sewing was in the 7th grade. Basic camera-work for an instructional video gang.

There may be a specific tutorial for that elsewhere. I thought it was quite a good video. I wasn't bamboozled by it and it's made me a bit more confident with the first bit. I can spend more time on the finniky bit now.
@unclearnuclear
@unclearnuclear 9 ай бұрын
I agree. Most of the video, I thought "WHAT is the camera man doing?" the zoomed out shot doesn't even have her centered. If she were any lower, her hands and the machine would be off the screen. Additionally, the last step where she wraps the thread around something one final time before putting it through the eye of the needle, we have no way of telling which part she wrapped the thread around. There are several intricate pieces in that space and the camera is way too far for us to tell what is going on. I don't think it's a bad video by any means. I can get by. But as a complete beginner, more detail and specificity would have been appreciated there! Thank you anyway for the video.

I've grown up with sewing from my early childhood and I know what she's doing in this video because I actually did it, but the fact that she didn't zoom in on the part where you go through the accessory drawer sucks.There's people out there that may be trying to learn how to sew or maybe trying to self-teach themselves the craft. If you have information like this where directions aren't explained in a thorough fashion, then you may end up confusing the beginner learner and hinder their success slightly in the craft. The only thing I say to you who's still trying to learn this thing or if you used to sew and forgot some steps... KEEP ON GOING and search out everything.
