So my journey starts in Antakya, Turkey 🇹🇷, a mesmerizing city located just between Syria and the Mediterranean Sea. Antakya was built around 400 BC and was one of the main hubs of the ancient Silk Road. Come here by yourself and enjoy Turkish hospitality.

Incredible! Traveling solo, young female and finding such friendly people in a foreign land? I can't even get people in my own neighborhood to say hello here in the USA.

Turkey is one of my favourite country. Agree people are very friendly n also very helpful . Food delicious. Actually i love their lamb , best all over Turkey. So rich in history plus nature. A good lesson in geography with science in action. Had a fantastic time there with super helpful people. Find that its very relaxing country to tour. Was there for almost 2mths.

You visited Antakya just 7 months prior to the earthquake. Lucky you. Antakya (Antioch) is a historic city with a story contained in the Holy Quran Chapter 36 (Ya-Sin) Verse 13-28. Verse 20 reads "And there came a man running from the farthest part of the town. He said: "O my people! Obey the Messengers." According to mufassirin (interpreters of the meaning of the Quran), his name is Habib an-Najjar. A mosque in Antakya is named after him.

Yeah, I saw that massive earthquake on Disaster Compilations channel on KZfaq in February that killed thousands of people and destroyed lots of buildings and then trapped men, women, children and animals for a week or less!

We were supposed to travel to these Turkish cities on your series in the next few weeks, unfortunately, I still don’t know if that is still going to happen anymore due to the earthquake. Thank you so much for your videos, it made me feel like I was also there.

The main importance is the ruins of the Hellenistic-Roman city that was once the second largest city in antiquity founded by Seleucus Nicator: Antioch on the Orontes. Marcellinus, the last Roman historian who wrote in Latin, was born here. It was also the episcopal see of John Chrysostom, a renowned Church Father. Unlike Alexandria and Constantinople, it was gradually abandoned snd never retained its central importance in the life of the East.
