They seem to be discouraging & are not related to the topic specified. In this gen, It is not mandatory that a new car buyer/ 1st time car buyer shoud buy a "budget car" & then opt for a "premium car". If the buyer is affordable & confident in his driving skills, they can buy any premium car (JDM/German/American Muscle) of their choice. FYI, New car buyer these days are looking for features, convenience, luxury & peaceful ownership. They are not interested in driving dynamics/ gear mechanism by experiencing used cars/ budget cars. However this is not the same for a Car Enthusiast as they are mainly focussed on handling, steering feedback & performance. Due to the lifestyle changes & rise in car loans, the buying decision has changed, people nowadays are not concerned about mileage. People are opting for a new car rather than buying a used car. It is all the matter of Affordability. As rightly said by GS, There is nothing wrong for a new car buyer buying a VW/ Skoda / any premium car unless the buyer understands about the car, usage & service maintenance.
