This was the last working day of 2023 for me, or so I thought! First time I installed a flue through a window which was interesting. Had a nice mix of jobs on this day.

As is normal for a gas carcass, it was probably run in 22mm until it was split to feed a gas fire lounge or two points in the kitchen, therefor there is probably no more than 2 or 3m of 15mm pipe in the screed run from a 22mm tee. Done loads of them. And the 22mm above floor just makes sure that there is a minimum drop on that run to the boiler. How far away is that flue from the parallel wall !!!

Mad that vaillant flue well didn’t think you could do that. Also shocked as there distance between flues above and below are small most is 1200-1500 can see a plumb kit above it😂. You really didn’t know about sleeved copper thought you were top man 😂 only used it a few times myself normally just use duct tape it’s about £40 a length baxi prv going into plastic no hot tun tut tut. Also that 5 year rule for baxi depend on how much it’s condensing more condense more corrosion takes to minutes take that burner off and have a cheeky look 🤜

I'm pretty certain that's it's not allowed because if the window gets changed in the future the new window could be a different design. Anywhere that isn't brick (on that building) is classed as an opening.

This type of flue should be 150mm from opening in building, a window is defined as an opening so I can’t see how this is ok. I would like to have email confirmation from the boiler manufacturers and not just the word of the rep.

@cputilitysolutions

Thanks 👍🏾 the vessel inside the boiler I usually set to 1.1 bar. I've not had to do one on a shock arrestor so far but I believe they're 0.16 bar or something like that 🤔

@cputilitysolutions Yeah I've never found an answer for it. Be good if someone knows. Maybe ask in your next video. Yeah I always do boiler ones to 1. Never gave me an issue. Just seen a few shock arrestor on services but it kind of defeats the purpose, as I don't know what there meant to be set at in the first place. Cheers

So a plume off a condensing boiler. Is that good or bad thing? Obviously you need the return water temp 54° or lower for it to be more efficient

@@laurencelagden fair enough, I've just had a few keyword warriors in quick succession so forgive my snapping reply. Yeah a return temp of around 50ish degrees would give better efficiency and allow the boiler to condense better
@laurencelagden
@laurencelagden 5 ай бұрын
@@cputilitysolutions yeah no worries. Everyone always has to have a go dont they but most of them haven’t got the minerals to post their own videos up. So a boiler with a return of say 50° on a cold day, would that produce a flume? It would be nice to know as it gives an immediate indication whether a boiler is running efficiently or not.
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 5 ай бұрын
@@laurencelagden hmm I guess if it's really cold then it would prob still produce a bit of a plume. Bit like when we see our breath when it's really cold out even though the temp of our mouths are only around 38 degrees or so 🤔

@@cputilitysolutions yeah I see that but I have always been under the assumption that if a flue is to be fitted next to a window that opens 300mm and if to be fitted next to an non opening window which is classified as a building opening should be 150mm from the opening ie edge of non opening window. Usually watch your content and really impressed but if that 15mm goes all the way back to the metre then this boiler is definitely under gassed. As a new installation it should have no more than 1mb pressure loss from meter to the appliance. Regardless of doing the best you can it has to conform to current regulations. Just done some quick calculations and if that boiler was a 19kw a 15mm pipe would only be able to travel 1 metre with 4 bends to reach 1 mb loss. Upgrading the pipe in the kitchen has no effect as the 15mm before restricts the flow your 22mm pipe has.
@cputilitysolutions
@cputilitysolutions 5 ай бұрын
Thanks - as I explained there was 22mm coming off the meter and I tested my working pressures and had a 1mb difference between the meter and boiler so it conforms to regs 👍🏾
