Excellent work mate. How did you go about charging for the extra work? I.e did you include it in the original price or charge a good amount more or feel bad and undercharged for all the extra travel and work (what happens to me lol). Hate when you go for something relatively simple like a service and need to tell customer it will cost you alot more than quoted. Pricing is something I really struggle with. Not just the level to price jobs at but the actual interaction with the customer can be so awkward and leads me to undercharging, especially when its additional work that you haven't quoted for and you are face to face with a customer. Wonder if anyone else feels the same.
@cliveramsbotty607723 сағат бұрын
when a customer wants you to extra work just say 'let me do the work i'm here to do today which is what you're paying me for, once that's done if i still have time we can talk about a price for any additional extra work and go from there'... i find that to be a nice polite way of reminding customers you don't work for free. when it comes to pricing jobs always make yourself the winner. if you know it's an easy predictable job then price the job. if you think a job could get complicated and take a while then charge an hourly rate plus materials. still do the odd job for free here and there for those who really need it.
@cputilitysolutions4 сағат бұрын
I like the line Clive suggested. When booking a service I always put in writing that the service doesn't cover repairs outside of the scope of what's deemed to be a service. If other faults are found during the service then they would have to be priced accordingly. It's a tough topic to nail down but you have to be confident and remember you're running a business and have mouths to feed at home. Gotta be stern but fair so customers understand your time isn't free

You know you're fucked when you see a spy glass electrode. Noticed you didn't do the condensate trap cause they are an absolute nightmare to clean 😂 I alway dour water down the heat exchanger too when the burners is out but remembering to turn power on or you flood the condensate pump. Hate highflows with a passion. Don't mind the CDI Classic which is basically the same boiler but doesn't break your back and knees.

Fixed an upstairs boiler last year, boiler had terrible problems running ,gas pressure all over the place, went down to the meter to hear it making unusual noises, contacted Transco who came to replace it , they found it was partially full of water. Transco spent two months digging up the road outside causing traffic mayhem while they replaced rotten infrastructure.

How it held the pressure when turned off I’ll never know. Turn hob control on… water hits the ceiling.. turn off water stops!! Turn off at meter, cap it and report it (Corgi then), notification to water provider! Massive issues
