*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

Failure's 'Fantastic Planet' album is one of those lost gems. "Stuck on You" may have been the only single (?) but as always, they chose the most radio friendly song, not the best song. "Saturday Savior", "Smoking Umbrellas", "Dirty Blue Balloons" and "Another Space Song" are all cool songs. Obviously, "The Nurse Who Loved Me" is an amazing song, and it's very different than APC's cover. The best moments on the album IMO, however, are the last 2 tracks "Heliotropic" and "Daylight", which are fucking amazing. You're right about the singer, btw. He's just a good singer, but their guitar work and songwriting are overall amazing.

I agree with you that the album is stacked from top to bottom with amazing tracks. Its the whole picture, the song writing, lyrics, vocals, and performance that elevated it to cult following it has to this day and every song is worth listening to. Have you checked out their most recent? 4 EPs that combine into another masterpiece.

The song is equating heroin addiction to a bad song, and how it's hard to shake it off. Masterfully written lyrics that covers the darker side of what Ken is singing. Anywho, do more Failure!!!

Greg Edwards wrote the lyrics to this song. I once interviewed Ken and asked if “Stuck on You” was an “H” song. Ken said it was a straight up love song.

Failure are one of my favorite bands and this album is probably their crown jewel. In terms of Ken's vocals, he is certainly in the mold of a lot of 90's alt rock but the appeal of the band is more in the songwriting itself and how they put a song/album together as opposed to any one element standing out on it's own. Ken Andrews is probably more famous for producing/songwriting for other bands as opposes to his own, dude just has a great ear for melody. I agree whole heartedly. Its the whole picture that makes them such a great band. I love all of the songs you mentioned and I'd recommend a few more: Dipped in Anger Perfect Prisms Shrine Solaris 2014 Blank I can see houses And songs from their latest album: Apocalypse Blooms Another Post Human Dream Found a way Dark Speed Pennies Heavy and Blind The Pineal Electorate Found a way No one left

Yes its the closest to this song in terms of catchiness and being radio friendly as well though not really reflective of the rest of their catalog. Still a favorite though.

The topic is heroin addiction. Greg Edwards was really bad at the time and everyone was surprised when he pulled through, got clean and started Autolux years later when failure broke up. You should react to Autolux, they are great too, yet very different.

Hey man, just came across your reaction on this. Just discovered Failure on Spotify. The band knows how to capture magic with simplicity. I'm hooked on Another Space Song for the past week now. Definitely worth a react. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers!

heroin was running through these boys during this album and that "itch" and sleepless night reference may come from the exhaustion of withdrawal. FAILURE are a special band dude. Ken Andrews is top notch songwriter and his other project Year of The Rabbit sounds like a more punky but has that melodic and heaviness like Failure. Ken Andrews also is partially responsible for Paramore becoming as big as they have. Produced i believe two of their albums? Fun fact

Ken Andrews also released a solo album "Secrets Of The Lost Satellite" that I think is almost as good as any of the Failure albums

Im like 90% certain its about heroin. Stuck on You is about addiction and some of the lines like (butrowed like a summer tick) points to IV use while (turned my nights to sleepless itch) points to the tactile discomfort that can happen when coming off opiates. Could be wrong, but that seems to be the authors intent to me.

I always liked this song even though it was on the Fantastic Planet album. I cannot forget when there was a female looking at me with a mad look on her face and her arms crossed when I was watching the video to this song.

Its a very radio friendly song that really is nothing like the rest of their catalog. They are very much space rock through and through.. maybe for a better glimpse checkout: Apocalypse Blooms Another Space Song I can see houses
