Yes, welcome to Home Free, all acapella, no instruments at all. Masters of all musical genres. Organized in a college dorm in Minnesota in 2000; they won the 4th season of the Sing Off in 2013. Two are from Minnesota, one from Georgia, one from Texas and one from Alabama (Current members, Chris left the group in 2016 and was replaced by Chance). Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces. Within this 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. Adam Rupp, one of the original founders of the group, is their beat boxer extraordinaire. All of them can sing lead and they choose depending on whose voice best fits the song. They can do just about anything and they continue to grow and improve, yet they remain so humble. When they have featured guest artist, they support and allow their featured artists to shine. Several of them have their own channels and do some solo work. And just for fun Rob and Austin sing Opera. What else can I say? Their catalogue of work is quite large and continues to grow. You are in for an exciting journey and the Home Fries will be there for you all the way.

Welcome to the fabulous world of Home Free, the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there with a 5 octave range & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. They do awesome covers but also a lot of original songs (3 of them are songwriters). Most new reactors start with "Man Of Constant Sorrow".

Yes, the outro is an original. They do all genres, covers/upgrades and original music. This is the group that won The Sing-off the year after Pentatonix (2014) and they have had one change since then when one of the originators, Chris Rupp (in the hat in the video) left for solo work and was replaced by Adam Chance, from Alabama and formerly bass for another group. Home Free's bass is Tim Foust, from Texas; baritone is Chris Rupp, from Minnesota as are his brother the beatboxer Adam Rupp and tenor Rob Lundquist (bearded one); high tenor is Austin Brown, from Georgia. Enjoy the rabbit hole!

There is no "lead" in this group, it all depends on who sounds best taking lead. For instance, in Unchained Melody the lead switches halfway through from Tim (bass) to Austin (high tenor). the bit at the end was from Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, an original by Tim Foust. His Christmastime followup to that one is call Full of Cheer. Another Christmas original, by Austin Brown is Cold Hard Cash. Both are funny and wonderful and pure Home Free.

I snagged this "recap" from another Fry as a cheat sheet.... The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. They are the only country A Capella ( all vocals no instruments)group but they are honestly do so so much more than just country music they can sing any genre and they do. There is no Lead singer in the group. They each ( except Adam )sing the song and who’s ever voice or voices sound right for the song gets the lead unless is a bass/ baritone song then that’s Tim or Chance.A lot of time they each have a part in the song. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys. Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire ( 41) can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonica (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).Co founder from Mankato Minnesota. They don't only do country & the lead singer changes depending on who's voice best fits the song. They often share lead in the same song. To see them sing something other than country, you have to react to their "End of the Road" cover . Also, "Man of Constant Sorrow" is folk, but it's a must watch. Then I'd say "When a Man Loves a Woman", where Austin sings lead and where you can get an idea of his range. And Tim, their bass, has a 5 octave range. Scott from PTX said in an interview that I saw or read (don't remember which) that Tim helped Avi with his low bass notes. People say he also helped Geoff, the bass from Voiceplay. So he's an OG of bassists in the a cappella world.

I love these guys. They have a lot of humor. They tend mostly to country but sprinkle everything from hip-hop to opera in there. They do hymns and Christmas carols beautifully. Their percussionist (beat-boxer) is the best you'll ever see. They have a video of him doing a fantastic drum solo so well you'd swear you can see drums there and he doesn't play a harmonica excellently. Fans call it a nomonica when he does it. Tim Foust, the bass can go from basso profundo up to medium tennor. I saw them in a small venue show early this year and Tim dropped a bass bomb on us that actually made the air shimmer in waves like heat waves off a hot car. If the speakers hold up to it you can actually see those low notes.

They're all fine musicians, 4 fine soloists who mesh in perfect harmony, with one of the most sophisticated beatboxers around. He has a great sense of rhythm, which distinguishes #homefree as an a cappella group. You always want to sing or dance along to their music, which to me is one of the things music should make you want to do. They have a knack for choosing great songs to cover, in all genres, and for writing as well. Three have them write original music and the beatboxer's solos (at their concerts) are highly composed. Check out their recent release, Stand by Me, their collab with Kenny Rogers, Children Go Where I Send Thee, and Do You Hear What I Hear. The last two are Christmas songs.

This group doesn't really have "a leader." Whoever best fits for a particular song takes the lead, so that changes from song to song. They are "mostly" country. They sing many different genres, but often with a bit of a country lilt. Mostly they do a lot of covers, but they also have originals, too. Some approaches are serious, some are very funny. Since it's Christmas soon, check out some of their seasonal tunes. My favorites are "Do You Hear What I Hear," arranged by their beatboxer, Adam; "Oh Holy Night" and their newest one out, "Christmas in LA," rolled out just a few weeks ago.

Home Free - My 1st exposure to modern a capella (after Straight No Chaser)! These guys are amazing talents! I am totally a PentaFryPlayer! 💖 Someone once compared the 4 top a capella groups to high school cliques. Voctave is the premier competitive choral group. Pentatonix is the governing council of the school. Home Free are the guys comparing their car engines in the school parking lot. And Voice Play is the Drama Dept of the school! Together they make the school run smoothly. 😊 Bit of Trivia: Tim, HF's bass, can sing from low speaker blowing sub harmonics to high tenor and used to teach math! He actually taught Geoff of Voice Play how to reach those famous low notes (and Geoff turned out to be an excellent student 😉). Avi & Tim are good friends & Avi did one other cameo in a HF video. HF members have also collaborated with some Voice Play videos! Geoff said in a few interviews that Tim is the most amazing talent he knows.

They lean country but can and do any genre really. Ring of Fire is a classic song written by Johnny Cash's wife June Carter Cash and his version is most well known and a country standard. Try their cover of End of the Road which Shawn Stockman from BoyzIIMen who was a judge on the Sing Off encouraged them to do. Don McLean at the 50th anniversary of his song American Pie asked them to join him on an acapella version and in that one, you get to see each of them sing a verse, except their amazing beatboxer Adam Rupp who has a beautiful tenor but prefers to do vocal percussions.

Caution: Home Free is highly addictive. IMHO the best acapella band. 3 of them are song writers so there are lots of originals as well as covers. They're all vocal chameleons and sing (and write) in almost every genre from goofy to gospel. Home Free is also ego-free, they don't have a lead singer; whomsoever sounds best singing it, does. Avi Kaplan also cameos in their original "Champagne Taste".

For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and Stargazer Lilies trilogy: Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...Their latest releases are Might As Well Be Me, Playing With Fire, Remember My Name, Oh, Pretty Woman, Cruise, Stand By Me and Life is a Highway. What? You haven’t been listening to Home Free? Wow! Well, welcome to more amazement! They mostly are country. They are not Pentatonix nor are they VoicePlay. That’s what is cool about liking these three bands. They are all amazing but they are all different. No doubt one of our Home Fries will give you the history. I hope you like them well enough to do more reactions. If not, don’t tell us as we are very sensitive about the three groups that we adore. 🥴😂🤪 I know “Man of Sorrow” has probably been suggested to listen to but a real tear jerker for Christmas is “Full of Cheer”. Keep the tissues handy. 😢🤧😂 Thanks for the great reaction. So sad there is no female in the group but I think one gorgeous lady is enough for you right now. 🤪

Instantly subscribed for more Homefree! The song at the end is "Champagne taste on a beer budget" (written by Tim Foust - their bass) The sequel to this song is "Full of cheer" - a wonderfully goofy Christmas song!! Please react to both!

Try Home Free's "Butt Medley" (or Butt Remix). It has different songs and different group members singing. Also, "Life Is A Highway" and "Cruise" are newer. They have sooo many songs.

New 🇨🇦 Sub and Home Fry, loved your reaction and here for more; as you will quickly see #HomeFree never disappoints!! My recommendations to get you started… Covers/Upgrades: Listen to the Music I Can’t Outrun You Take Me Home Country Roads Castle on a Hill Can’t Stop the Feeling Brother (you may need to watch twice, once for the video antics and a second time for the musicality/lyrics!) One Man Band The Gambler Die a Happy Man Originals: Dreamer LIVE at the Ryman feat. Texas Hill (Tim does a fun intro of everyone mid-song) Catch Me If You Can Dive Bar Saints Leave This Town Might As Well Be Me (pause for their “bios” and written answers to get in on the hilarity!) Remember My Name Understand So Long, Dixie Collaborations (where the featured artist(s) always shine: Children, Go Where I Send Thee feat. Kenny Rogers (watch to the end) God Bless the USA feat. Lee Greenwood & the USAF Singing Sergeants (done during Covid for the songs 25th anniversary) American Pie feat. Don McLean (done during Covid for the songs 50th anniversary) Delta Dawn feat. Brooke Eden One Voice feat. Billy Gilman (important message at end) The Horses feat. Travis Collin’s and Amy Sheppard (filmed in Australia Spring 2023) Elvira feat. The Oakridge Boys

One thing about Home Free is they have no leader. They all can sing lead according to the song. The bass here ,Tim, can sing low bass and go high tenor. What ever the song calls for. They do very few covers, they do upgrades to most songs.

Home free won the Sing Off the season after Pentatonix. They are very good. Personally not a huge country music fan so I gravitate to Pentatonix sound over theirs… But at the same time I completely respect their amazing talents and abilities!! I love this cover with Avi joining the mix! ❤

The Pentatonix group - appeared on the horizon winning TV contest in 2012 .... yup, but, The Home Free group Assembled in 2002 I believe in another cast of characters .... and won THE SING OFF the following year after Pentatonix .... 2013 ..... so should be no surprise they ARE BETTER, PHENOMENAL ON INDIVIDUAL BASIS AS WELL AS INCREDIBLE HARMONY in this current ensemble !!! Avi (Kaplan)- a friend - as is Pentatonix individuals in general of Home Free folk .... is an extraordinary and near as good in Bass ability ... though with Tim Foust of Home Free that is the beginning of his skill set ... he can sing Baritone and Tenor too. Unique in a three register voice as his Bass alone is UNRIVALED being able to hit F#2 with clarity !

Try their cover of End of the Road (Boyz to Men). They do many genres. They are great. They have many originals. Three of the members are songwriters. The tidbit you heard was written by the bass, Tim Faust, who also took the lead on this one. Give this group more time. You might be surprised but you won’t be sorry. Subbing for more HF.

Ring of Fire in a more modern, somewhat reggea-like version, but still respecting the original. Five years ago this was the first video I saw/heard from Home Free. I got there because I was listening to Pentatonix at the time and Avi was my favorite. Immediately there was something that drew me to Home Free. From then on I followed them and after I think 2 videos I was a real Home Fry. I hardly follow PTX anymore. Avi still does, because Avi Kaplan and Home Free let me feel music and not just hear it. Their great harmonies, the unbelievably good beatboxing/vocal percussion and of course that incredible deep bass that makes the ground vibrate and your speakers explode. Personally, I thought Avi fit better with Home Free than with PTX. But that's my opinion 😊
