I'm a new subscriber who just loves Baron's videos. I usually don't read or make comments on videos but I'm so disappointed in the comments I've been reading on his videos. Baron seems like a down to earth guy. I don't care if he has his own plane and a beautiful girlfriend. Good for him. He makes great videos that we should all appreciate. No one gets anything for free. I'm sure he's earned what he has. We should enjoy his videos and stop the jealousy and squabbling.

That Orlando controller you were talking to on 119.4 is one of the best. He's always super helpful with my students when they're on solo cross countries and does a really nice job making sure I get all the approaches I need when I'm with my instrument students.

Just happened across your videos today; thank you for posting! I started working on my Private Pilot license several years ago, but life got into the way shortly after my first solo. Seeing these videos really gets me wanting to pick it back up, especially when I saw the smile on Lucy's face as soon as you started take off. I swear I probably have that same look every time I've flown! Extra bonus is that the Baron has long been a favorite of mine.

Nice videos, Scott. When I was flying 35's and 55's to Florida (the chief pilot had a condo in Ft Lauderdale) there was a very similar Baron that lived in our hanger at LVI (ABE), and one day when I had finished a flight, I opened the door on the ramp, and I was immediately drawn to the Baron. The pilot had inadvertently moved the gear lever as he cleared the runway, and the squat switch did not stop the retraction. It was ghastly to see those bent props, but worse, it required a two-engine teardown due to the strikes. Because of events like that, I trained my right seat passenger to be a second set of eyes to make sure that neither of us came anywhere near the gear lever when I flew for myself in the Seneca that I used as an MEI. Just a reminder to all of us who fly retractable gear aircraft.

A good idea. If you say it, it makes it easier to acknowledge it. An aspect of solo pilot CRM. Instead of just looking and mentally confirming it, you look down, 'Gear up!' and you look at the indicator and say 'Gear Up, light is red (or whatever color for a gear up indication). Challenge and response.

I have quite a bit of 58P time and It will always be one of my favorite aircraft. It was jet black, with Colemill conversions and I thought it was a beautiful bird. However, your interior appointments sure have mine best. I applaud your composure here. Having been tasked with carrying beautiful passengers and yet you never complained once. During your approach to Orlando, I noticed that the throttles, mixtures, and props were not symmetrical. I'm a student pilot with no multi-engine experience, so I wouldn't know the reason. Does it have to do with crosswinds?

Nice video. I have a question about the engine controls: the mixture on the left engine is a bit richer than the other one. Does that engine just need more fuel to run clean or is it just not that important to have them at the same?
@BaronPilot
@BaronPilot 7 жыл бұрын
+Simske my right engine is running rich. My engines are due for overhaul so I'm trying to figure out if I should spend the money to replace the part or wait for overhaul. So for now I am leaning it to compensate until I decide what to do.

Honestly, I didn't think it was a PA, as much as it was just something new and unusual. Also, teenage girl reaction. :)

So many memories - Was based in Orlando for a little over a year working in the aircraft modification field, and flew a few rented Cessnas down and around South Florida. I also had a very beautiful friend that looked so very much like your co-pilot - she flew a few times with me. *sigh* If only I had taken the risk, where my life would be now? Maybe flying as a career, with my friend by my side? I guess we'll never know.

You never know where life will take you. Every road leads you somewhere the other road never would have. I often wonder what my life would have been like if I took the airline path when I started flying many years ago. Then I remind myself I could have been a pilot on one of the 911 flights. So instead I just remind myself everything happens for a reason. Thanks for sharing your story!

Baron Pilot Great video. Its funny how we pilots are all so keen to talk out our thoughts (navigation progress, airport in sight, instruments etc.) when non aviation fan passengers don't give a damn actually ! Its our flying hype that makes us talk so much during flight. I have to be honest, you were quite quiet in relation to other pilots I have seen including myself when, at worst, I make them a full tour of the instrument panel as if they give a damn ! Later I learned better shut up and talk to them about non aviation stuff in a cool mood.

I try to get a feel for how much they want to know and hear. This video illustrates the quietest I get. Even when I'm alone with no passengers I find myself talking out loud. LOL But now she wants to learn more. LOL

New subscriber and really enjoy the videos. This is a subjective question, but as an IT person, I must ask. What is the approximate ratio of flying time to editing time for your videos? Is the software rather intuitive in integrating all of your gopro cameras, rendering, placing screen shots , adding/deleting audio/video, etc? Thanks for all the great videos as as you are really inspiring me to pursue my dream of flying

Welcome and thanks for subscribing. Ratio? That's a good question. I try not to think about how much time I actually spend. It would probably discourage me. Lol but I probably spend at least 16 hours editing each video. It use to be at least double that when I first started.

Thanks for the reply and what a labor of love if you're spending that much time on these. I also really enjoy the close-up screen shots when you are describing a particular instrument/avionic as well as the helpful URLS. Keep up the great videos!

What kind of yoke mount is that? RAM? Have a BE35 and looking for a good iPad set up. Currently use window mount suction cups but quickly overheats when sun is on same side.

I am. It is the Avidyne IFD100. It controls my Avidyne IFD440 GPS. It does everything except swap frequencies.
