Hey man! I just went on a charter out of Ninilchik with my aunties and a friend this past weekend and it was $250 each person! It was just for halibut though no rockfish. Everyone left with an over and under. Really awesome captain. It was through Gotta Fish Charters and we had captain Al (Bad Al) and stayed there the night through Reel Em Inn, same place. You meet captain there if you don’t stay on the campground and get driven to the beach where the boat gets trucked into the water. He really knew his stuff, he brought us to the what they call “chicken hole” after catching the overs and immediately got our unders! Ended up paying $300 for we lodged there and they filleted them and put them in bags for us which we had the option not to but we had to leave that night to get back home and didn't want to fillet that late at night. Really awesome time and between the 6 of us we ended up getting 126lbs and distributed evenly for we all knew each other. So if you ever go on another charter and want to try a different spot I would recommend Ninilchik :).

Brilliant video dude, I miss halibut from when I lived up on the north coast of BC in Prince Rupert. We have more of red snapper (sea water fish) and Tilapia and Nile Perch (fresh water fish) here in East Africa. Keep up the good work.

New to the channel, would love to fish and hunt in Alaska someday im on the other side of the country in the northeast. heard some people shoot halibut with a 22 to dispatch them, probably wouldn’t b e safe to do with that many people.

Yes. Some captains do that for the big halibut over 200lbs plus

the typical price around the state has been about $400 for a few years now. You might find afew that are less, but not by much. Charters that have a big reputation and proven track records will be more. (check out the town's halibut derby history)

Why did u stop fishing? Just because u limited? Cuz in Cali we keep fishing for the whole boat to limit

@@NuttyNu I would have just been releasing all my fish then. That’s dumb u paid for a full day of fishing and had to stop because u limited and had to wait for others. I would get it if the whole boat limited early and u guys were done. But sit around and watch the action, that just sucks

can't. some of the most fragile rockfish don't do very well when released, and they can be 100 years old..

Way to limit out on your first charter. Thems going to be some good eating fish. At around $10 per pound for Halibut, it doesn't take much to pay for your trip plus its a great experience to catch them yourself.
