It was the perfect time for 50. Not only did he fill the gap of gangsta rap when most rappers were doing "bling" rap at the time, but he also got Eminems fanbase. You could debatably say 50 was bigger than Em for a period. I was 16 in a small midwestern school and our english teacher was playing this album during work time. lol It was literally everywhere.

By time the 50 Cent and Kanye thing happened it was his 3rd album, and rap was changing drastically. That was the passing of the torch for the next generation of rap we would get.Kanye didn't change rap alone with that one situation. It was already changing and the Kanye thing was the proof of it. You got your history all confused. lol And in no way proved the original comment wrong, because he clearly says at 50's PEAK. lol I even did a bit of research for you, took 30 seconds. Compare Kanyes first album sales to 50 Cent's first album sales. 50 did well more than twice what Kanye sold.
