When the Big 4 came out,those bands were laying the foundation for Metal. I proudly say I grew up when these bands were just starting out. Parents thought they wouldnt last and they were Wrong! I'm glad people are discovering how great these bands and this music are.

A lot of people like when John Bush took over on vocals ( more of a rough voice) but I'm old, I still like Joey!

It's a Mad House!!! A Mad house!!! Don't know who the F came up with the "Big 4" CRAP but they left out Testament, Exodus and Overkill. Probably because they were the first ones. My favorite Anthrax album was their first one - Fistful of Metal. For some great thrash metal do Testament - Over The Wall.

Great band, and these days, based on recent-ish output, Anthrax are my favourite of the Big Four - their last two albums (Worship Music & For All Kings) are superb.

Agree, I love many of Anthrax's albums, probably more than any other Thrash band, but this album was just perfection from beginning to end.

Joey Belladonna (the singer) still has his voice today. He has a Journey tribute band that plays small shows. He also plays drums (and sings) in a classic rock tribute band. Heavy Metal isn't his first choice!

Even on his return to Anthrax in 2016 with For All Kings he sounds amazing! And, I would argue that was the best thrash album in the past 10 years. I really don't feel like the other thrash bands were able to repeat the talent they had in the 80's/90's during their glory days, so I'd almost given up hope until I heard For All Kings and was blown away.

Anthrax is one of my favorite bands. I discovered them in 1985 a few weeks after discovering Metallica. They could've been a bigger band but in the 90s they lost singer Joey Belladonna. They picked up former and current lead singer of Armored Saint, John Bush. They became more of a band of that time and less thrash of their roots. They also had tons of trouble over the years with record companies and finances. They have Joey back now, I finally got to see them, three times, over the last several years. They may be older but still kick ass. Other songs you should check out are Medusa, Be All End All, Belly of the Beast or Blood Eagle Wings, from their latest album. Glad you liked this one.

Joey Belladonna, the vocalist, proved that you could be heavy and still have a talented vocalist. There is an argument whether they should've been part of the big 4 as opposed to the band Testament or Exodus.
@happydude2163
@happydude2163 Жыл бұрын
Anthrax definitely deserved their place. The problem is there should never have been a big 4, it should always have been big 5 - testament was as good, if not better than all of the big 4. Exodus and Overkill then filled in 5 & 6 position. Personally, big 4 aside, my fav thrash band was actually Flotsam and Jetsam who never got any attention.

I could watch these guys the same. As I watched Metallica live in concert. Beyond that boo. I would never buy one of their albums because that wouldn't tell playing at home Now with that being said, I think you guys are great. I only've been listening to you and watching you for the past few months since I discovered you guys so keep going, keep truckin!

Live is an experience that isn't caught on the record. You'd have to be there to understand. Anthrax has a great singer that isn't like the screams that other big 4 bands have.

Possibly Anthrax's greatest song, the riffing is so tight! Of the big 4 thrash bands, Joey definitely had the best vocals and his replacement later was also awesome. Next to Anthrax, I personally feel Eric "A.K" Knutson of Flotsam and Jetsam also had great vocals. Loved Dave's vocals in Megadeth because of his style, but wouldn't consider him a great vocalist.

I’d second Flotsam & Jetsam. I think their first two albums are the best thrash albums not by the Big Four. Although Exodus’s Fabulous Disaster is just as great in its own way.

@happydude2163
@happydude2163 Жыл бұрын
Breathing Lightning is an amazing song, but Madhouse is quintessential early Anthrax and an awesome song. So many good one they could have chosen, Caught in a Mosh, Black Lodge, Room for One more, Indians, Blood Eagle Wings, Antisocial, Finale, anything from time, so hard to choose! Anthrax had more hits than any of the big 4.

Got into these guys in '87. Saw them on their reunion tour in the'00s when they brought back Joey and Dan. Small club, got right up against the stage and sang every word. They absolutely crushed it! One of my all time favorite bands. Check out anything from the "Persistence of Time" album. Epic.
@happydude2163
@happydude2163 Жыл бұрын
So many good Anthrax albums. Among the living, State of Euphoria, Persistence were all awesome and then Sound of White Noise again was just awesome despite the vocals change. Amazingly they then crushed it years later with For All Kings. In sheer volume of work/hit albums, Anthrax totally dominated the Big 4 imo.

Anthrax has a great catalogue of music. Lots of social commentary, even had a video basically blacklisted from MTv because it was "too depressing" - Who Cares Wins (homelessness). A number of songs based on books - mostly Stephen King. My personal favorite is based on a Twilight Zone episode - Intro to Reality/Belly of the Beast.

Thanks for playing Anthrax. They are by far my favourite of the Big Four. Check out Caught In A Mosh, Indian or I Am The Law also. Fun fact: one of the guitarist in this video is Dan Spitz and he quick the band to become a Swiss clock maker. He is one of only a handful of foreigners to ever do so in Switzerland.

Out of the big four and thrash metal Slayer gives me a headache I'm not as big a fan but definitely Megadeth and Metallica is usually where I hang my hat and thorax is pretty good not knocking them at all but you're opening a rabbit hole that you're gonna find is extremely deep and all these groups have pretty big diversity within themselves enjoy the ride
