Great review, Stax. Ok, you asked, so here we go. I first heard More Than A Feeling on the radio early fall of 1976 as a 17 year old. First reaction was "What is this" because new music came out weekly during that time. (We all took that for granted considering today's music). And this sound impressed me like no other. I knew it was special and bought the LP album immediately. I wasn't a Rock guy either, more pop like SuperTramp, Earth Wind/Fire, ect. I have to say that the moment I put that needle down on this album on my turntable, and listened all the way through, I knew that I had heard something extraordinary. I was blown away, and listened to it daily for a long while. This debut album grabs attention and won't let go. Every song. It was mixed extremely well, and if you don't know how and under what circumstances, research Tom Scholz, and get ready to be blown away. I will still, 48 years later, don a set of headphones and listen to this masterpiece all over again, and I just get the biggest smile, and I'm taken back to my sound system in my living room in Michigan in 1976. Scholz was a genius, and someone should make a movie about how he produced this album, featuring every song on it. It would make millions. Btw, review every song on this one.

I was 17 when this album came out. We were blown away by their debut album. Remember this was the mid 70’s and there were great bands on the radio all day. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, ELO, Supertramp, the Who. So you had to be great to stand out from the rest. You have to listen to the whole album. Every song will make you feel good and you will be smiling the whole time. I do every time I hear it. Which is about 500 times now.

The band was made up of primarily studio musicians, so the production quality of their albums is fantastic. I got to see them on one of their last tours before the passing of lead singer Brad Delp. They still sounded awesome and the show was great.

Just stumbled across this and I agree with the others man you should just hit every song on this album and ideally you should do it in order and you basically are still poised to do that, it's considered one of the greatest debut albums in rock history. But anyway I'm glad you turn the volume up that was going to drive me nuts.

Listened to the album it when it came out, but it brings me back to spring of 1977 playing pickup basketball. Even later in life after thousands of plays, this song reminded me not to get caught up in work and blow off the crap the corporate climbers were giving. The whole first album is great, but I'll suggest "Hitch A Ride". "A Man I'll Never Be" from the second album is one of my favorite songs of all.
