i'm 71 and comments like this annoy me. every generation loves the music they grew up with. nobody will match the beatles as far as i'm concerned, but kids today grew up with what they grew up with. just enjoy what you like without trashing the music...and for the record, i loved brenda lee...young people today might like the beatles, love them, never heard of them but no matter what they won't have the emotions i have because every one of their songs bring back memories i had because of my age at the time. the songs spoke to me and still do. my son loves van halen for the same reason i like the beatles......my daughter corey hart, madonna and then guns n' roses. vive la difference

the beatles opened for roy orbison. however the response to their music was so wild and orbison's songs were more ballad like that he suggested they switch. apparently the beatles loved him before they became famous and he grew even more in their estimation. i saw orbison in concert around 1980. sounded better live than on his records. shocking. never saw the beatles live but my best friend saw them on their tour of north america in 1964. ticket was $5.50. i've been to the john lennon museum in saitama, japan. very well done. closed now.

missgmoma... She was THE top selling female artist of the 1960s. You mentioned you wanna check out some of her songs from when she was older, but I just have to suggest one when she was just 16: “I Want To Be Wanted”. It reached #1 in the USA in 1960. I only discovered it about 5 years ago thanks to Sirius-XM. They played it on one of their more eclectic stations and I’d never heard it before but was blown away by how beautiful it was and how mature she sounded. Oh! And also “All Alone Am I” from 1962, when she was 18. That one reached #3 on the charts😉.

I grew up listening to Brenda Lee who is only a few years older than me. Quite a few beautiful voices from that era, but hers was the most distinctive and one of the most beautiful of all time. Amazing that such a powerful voice could come from such a little person. If you like her, then listen to Little Peggy March, "I will follow him." We were so blessed that there were so many fine singers during that era.
