She is a ten time Grammy award winner. She is also probably the single biggest reason we had Whitney Houston. Whitney sang background on HER hit, "I'm Every Woman." Whitney covered it and paid homage to her in the song.

Next: "I Feel For You" also by Chaka Khan. It's been sampled a lot so you may have heard some it already. These songs were all over the place. I remember hearing it on my little radio when I walked home from school, or in the summer at the pool, and just at home with my mom.

The smoke was in the air😥😥 We thought the show was over& we all started walking away then she dropped the beat to Ain't Nobody! @@janetownley of course they didn't. What they did do with analog recording technology was called layering. The master Tape had many tracks and the Artist can add to that by doubling or more of voice or instrument and also add effects from the master board but the end result was truer to the actual voice and instrument.

You guys are doing something brilliant by visiting all this music history, and most of it is music that is from when I was in my teens, 20s and 30s. So it's all "my music." And so nice to revisit it all. It makes me wonder what it would be like for someone in their 70s like me to do a FIRST TIME HEARING on current music. I wouldn't even know where to begin. I know that every generation has it brilliance, so I know it is there, just don't know where to find it.

I first heard Chaka Khan (Sweet thing)when I was a senior in high School. In 1989 I got to meet her after a concert at Kunsan AB Korea where I was stationed. We hung out until she left. Mad respect for Ms Chaka Khan.

I’m with everyone else. “tell me something good” is a must and you will download it and try to figure out that rhythm change like I have been for the last 40 years. “Through the Fire” after that.

I love watching your videos on discovering artists and songs from my generation. I admit I don't care for many current songs out there today, except for a few artists, but every generation has the songs that helped shape it. Chaka Khan was one of the greats, and I enjoyed hitting the clubs with her music. Music can bring us all together! Great job guys!

Exactly, when music was a listening experience only-. the way it should be! Couldn’t sell a song with choreography, video, nasty lyrics, or personal scandal. Back when folks actually studied, played, and sang Music. We had the attention-spans to put on a pair of headphones and listen to an album from beginning to end, imagine that, Kids of today!

Chaka K headed a band known as RUFUS in Chicagoland. She/they played at our Catholic HS in the 1970s. They blew EVERYBODY away,. They all were grounded, easy going and professional from the word go. Even back then, it was apparent that Chaka K was special and possessed that 'it factor'.
