You know Blue-eyed Soul, well I think this is called Redneck Soul. It's amazing that, while we might think of Country music and Soul music as being on opposite sides of the spectrum, the truth is that almost every form of modern American music from the early 1900s to today, from Rock & Roll, R&B, Country, to Jazz, Blues, Big Band, and Gospel music, all share the same roots that branched off in different directions. Ken Burn's PBS documentary series "Country Music" beautifully explores those roots. While I've never been a big Country fan, that documentary opened my eyes to the similarities that all of our music share and I grew to have a profound respect and appreciation for it. Now, if only the people that listen to all these kinds of music could realize that we all share the same musical roots, maybe that help bond us all because music does bring people together like few other things can.

I love this version of this song. Chris does such a great job on it. I have never been much of a country fan until I started to listen to Chris Stapleton. I also love him singing Cold at the CMA awards and also Devil Gonna Watch You Burn about the Vegas mass shooting. It is a must see. Very powerful.
