Is, they officially (outside of just their yearly SC gig) got back together in 2018. Released a new album in 2019. They re-released it in 2020 with a version of Losing My Religion as the extra/bonus track :)

Darius went from Hootie and the Blowfish to country. His voice is perfect for the story telling that is done in country songs. Please do more of him. Try 'Wagon Wheel'

Top Secret: In 2002, Darius Rucker made a brief stop as a late '80s/early '90s R&B singer. His album Back To Then was not so successful, and he didn't get great radio airplay. I think it was just bad timing; the market had moved on from that style. But it's full of terrific songs and Darius is a hell of a singer. Darius Rucker is a Carolina guy. Grew up in Charleston,SC & has a home in Charleston, SC & Raleigh,NC. And Jai, if you know Hootie & the Blowfish, he is the lead singer. They played a HUGE concert for Veterans Day on a inclined street in Fayetteville, NC(Fort Bragg). Best thing about it was, it was FREE. This was many years back. But, it was awesome hours of beautiful music for free.

He got his start as hootie. He still goes back to the bar he got started in (Windjammer) down in Isle of Palms, SC. Does free shows there. Humble guy who never forgot where he came from.

I use to see Darius w/ Hootie and the Blowfish down in the 5 points area of Columbia SC way back when they were just a local bar band. That would be in Late 80's into the early 90's. We were all so young then! Even after the band got signed and skyrocketed to stardom they never forgot where they started and would give a free concert every year back in Columbia in appreciation. Darius is one of those singers that could sing the phonebook and it would sound good. Amazing powerful voice. Darius had a solo R&B album back in 2002 called Back to Then. All great songs on it. He's now conquered country music and is a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Hootie reunited in 2019 and released an album.

One trend I love about Country music is this evolution of the meaning of a phrase. Since Country music is a lot of story telling, there's a kind of trope almost that a lot of songs do, but I'm not complaining, I love it, but it's where the chorus repeats the same phrase, in this case "It Won't Be Like This For Long" but everytime it's said it means something slightly different until the last time it means basically the exact opposite of what it meant when it was first said. Another example of this that I really love is "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney.

This song is Awesome! This is his family (wife at the time and kids) in the video. Sadly, they divorced. His kids are gorgeous! Darius can sing anything and it sounds magical! my daughter cried and hung on to the my leg for the first week of headstart. He preschool teacher would tell me, it's okay, just go, she's fine as soon as you leave. I would tell her that this was her time to have fun and be with her friends and I would always be right back her to pick her up. But man, seeing her cry her little eyes out broke my heart and I would cry the whole way home.

Damn not gonna lie I've heard this song a million times but for some reason this almost made me cry. I missed my first borns early years with a deployment and traveling for work and just being there for my second son makes me sad knowing all I missed out on with my first.
