Dimash is playing dombra and the pianist is Renat Gaisin the songwriter of Omir Oter. The dombyra (домбыра) is a lute-style instrument. It is an ancient and quintessential piece of Kazakh culture and identity. In its most popular form, the dombyra has two-strings strung down a long, skinny neck and a pear-shaped body, flat at the front and rounded on the backside. The dombyra is, in fact, so important to Kazakh national identity that there is a popular saying: “Naǵyz qazaq qazaq emes, naǵyz qazaq - dombyra” (Нағыз қазақ қазақ емес, нағыз қазақ - домбыра), which, translated, means “A real Kazakh is not a Kazakh, a real Kazakh is a dombra.” Dimash grandfather is a master of dombyra and his father and younger brother Abilmasur also play it. 💙💛🔝🌹🌹❤️🎤👏👏👏

The "dombra" is a stringed instrument(2) typical of the Kasajos and of nearby towns. In Kasaja culture, each child receives a dombra at a very early age and masterfully learns to play it over time.

Renat Gaisin is a well respected and talented musician. He is working with Dimash's younger brother Mansour to teach him music, piano, etc. Renat is a good friend of Dimash and his family.

Thanks for your reaction. Renat Gaisin (the pianist) is a famous Kazakh composer. He composed the music of Qairan Elim (you should react to the music video, directed by Dimash himself, this is a pure masterpiece, the song is powerful), and more recently Omir Oter. Both songs are powerful and beautiful, I really love when Dimash sings in Kazakh with folk Kazakh instrument. All your reactions to Dimash's performances are amazing, please continue!

Thank you Dears for your reactions! 🎼🙏🤗 The man who plays piano is Renat Gaisin - very famous composer in Kazakhstan, he wrote this music in 2011 when he did fly ex USA and its great that you can hear this melody during AirAstana' flights (Kazakh airline) recorded by other dombra player. As Renat said DIMASH did give new breath to the composition. Its sounds really cool!!🎼💯🙏🙏💃🥰🤗❤️ With love from Moscow ❤️ Angela 💃

The Dombra are the most popular instrument folk instrument in Kazakstan so a lot of Kazakh start to learn how to play Dombra where they are young . A very musical people even in their history . Love this one ..merci 🙏🌹🇫🇷🕊

Another enjoyable reaction from you! Ranat Gaisini, who plays the keyboard wrote River of love, originally a piano composition, but don't quoteme on that. The melody came to him while on an aeroplane looking through the window, and saw a very long river and made him think of the beauty of our planet. Renat said, one day Dimash started playing it in the studio using a dombra. ' He gave it a new breath of life' ...he said, and wrote a new arrangement for it, recorded it as you've seen it and later they added Dimash's vocalise. Some days I just listened to it again and again, so thank you for your review. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

Brilliant composition. As Sara said, it is called a Dombra and it only has 2 strings. Imagine if there were more. He is just incredible.

Renat Gassin playing keyboard wrote this song for another dude. But of course, Dimash took it over & made it his own. It's a dombra. They vary in price. Can be affordable. Dimash's grandfather taught him how to play. So smooth. Dombra ancient Kazakh instrument. Love it.

It's a Dombra, the oldest instrument in the world & yes it only has 2 strings. I'm surprised you haven't seen it in other videos of his. On live shows he has played Dombra with others including his younger brother who is 15 now & almost as tall as Dimash. At his Almaty concert his brother had his debut as a song writer. He played keyboard while Dimash sang the song & he also did an electric guitar solo. 🎸 So another rising star in the family. Thanks for your reaction. Look forward to the next one 👏👏

Wow...such a beautiful AND contemporary sound from the Dombra. Ahhh...just love it...also has a SmoothJazz tone to it. He plays it the way he sings...his body movements....😍❤

👉 The Dombra is a folk musical instrument widely used in Central Asia. It is made of wood and has a pear-shaped body with a long neck (only in Kazakhstan with frets) to which two gut strings are attached. The dombra can be rightly called the queen of Kazakh instruments since the XIX-th century. Dombra can be met in each yurta; it was referred to as one the most necessary and obligatory things in the life of Kazakhs. Although Kazakh musical instruments resemble those belonging to other tribes of the Central Asian ethnic group, they have their peculiarities dictated by national traditions. Today the dombra is a national symbol of the Kazakhs and Dimash said every Kasacian child learns this instrument. In many legends the heroes of successfully made use the ability to 'communicate without words: 'In spite of his father's prohibition the khan's son secretly went hunting. He met a herd of kulans and wounded the leader. Infuriated, Lame Kulan killed the youth with a stroke of the hoof. After waiting in vain for the return of his son from hunting, the khan declared that anyone who approached him with that estirtu (bad news) would be executed by pouring molten lead into the mouth. No one dared for a long time until an old dombrist (a person who plays the dombra) attempted. The sorrowful tune of the kyui was able to send this tragic message across to the khan. He ordered that the molten lead be poured into the dombra. That was how the opening in the upper sounding board of this musical instrument came about.

The 2 strings on the Dombra are traditionally made with horsehair and gut as are the bowstring and strings of the upright Quobyz (pronounced Koe bish), thanks guys !
