It took Dimash 3 years to compose the music and write the screenplay. He was also very involved in every aspect of the filming and recordings of the orchestra. He said it is the most expensive MV in history. He performed this live at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and in front of the gathering of world religious leaders, including the pope. This is my breakdown of the story, as I see it: 1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end. 2) The Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end. 3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son at the end, who inherited the necklace from her mother…, they were all torn by the war. For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim, Shepard or Wise Man at the end of the video was Dimash’s newborn son, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love and harmony. He detests war and has stated that wars are always between two people not two nations. He has stated that he is 'only a singer' so all he can do is 'use his voice'. This is Dimash's humility and him using his voice. Dimash composed the music and wrote the screen play. This was a project 3 years in the making on and off in-between commitments in many countries and his homeland not to mention his concerts of which there has been four in just this year alone. Dimash premiered The Story of One Sky live at his concert in Almaty, Qazaqstan on the 23rd September and the video released on the 24th. The emotion, heart and soul is real and I believe this was a way for him to vent his frustration at current world events. It’s mostly about life, death and rebirth. Director Alina Veripya is second to none in her field and portrayed everything magnificently.I believe she also directed ‘Okay’ for Dimash which was a great video. The main character and his 2 friends are linked in eternal friendship through childhood stories and a symbol (necklace). One day, the friend saves the protagonist when he is drowning. The juxtaposition of love, peace and friendship against war, destruction and death, is just portrayed so beautifully in this video. From Dimash's character nearly drowning and his joy at being alive to the visual of his death in the water, having exacted revenge for the death of his child.....from his friend saving him from drowning [an act of great love] to becoming the war monger general.....from the young girl smiling happily at the young boy [who will become her husband later] and her death in childbirth [Dimash's son - who will go on to help lead people to peace] - just amazingly pieced together. Thank you, this is a masterpiece on all levels and in every way. Dimash worked on this for 3 yrs. He used over 300 people in many fields, went to 3 countries, tons of equipment and expertise in every aspect. It is said that he spent 7 million dollars on the making of this. And he also made another video without the story but just with the religious people struggling towards the light, and he sang this live for the conference on religions. The Pope was there and gave him a medal of gold. Dimash has poured his heart and soul into this project for peace. He also sang it live at his recent concert in Kazakhstan. Can't wait for the official video to come out! Amazing and every part is high quality and no corners were cut. Amazing.

The symbol is a gnomon--the needle of a sundial or solar clock. In a sense, it highlights the importance of the light as we mark time throughout our existence. In ancient sailing ships, it was often mounted on a compass, which brings in an element of the direction we choose in our lives--do we strive to go toward the light and "truth" (true north.) Or do we stay in an endless cycle of death (there is symbolism in the imagery of water and the drowning/dying Dimash) and life, back to death again--the death of one child, the birth of another. Dimash makes a choice to kill his childhood friend to put an end to the senseless war. Is that good or bad? Is it OK to commit violence to stop another act of violence? The movie doesn't really say. But there is a definite element of sacrifice as Dimash turns around and faces the soldiers. He could have chosen to fire at them in an attempt to escape, or in a last act of violence. But instead he lowers his weapon and faces his own death. WE are given a choice to ponder also--do we join the procession of people of different cultures and religions, and march toward the light and life (on a different plane of existence, I think), or do we continue as the circle repeats itself in acts of bloody violence. Dimash invites us to become part of the procession at the end (did you catch his little smile as he turns away from the camera?) You mentioned how hard it is to listen to the music and follow the story of the video at the same time. To me, the video is so compelling that Dimash's singing takes a back seat (almost.) But the the music and the video have a unity which emphasizes Dimash's message, I think. Each adds to and reinforces the other to almost force us to ponder the music video's meaning This one makes me watch it over and over, and I catch more and more details that add even more meaning and depth to what he has to say. Dimash's ability to catch our attention as he sings, and to get across the meaning of what he is singing is unparalleled, I think.

The ending could be as you say or could be his grown son leading all nations/religions in the quest for peace. Yes it definitely needs to be seen more than once. This is Dimash's masterpiece imo. He has worried about war since being a child & he has spoken about it in some of his concerts as he feels so strongly about it, especially the suffering & deaths of children because of the choices of a few adults. There is a great fan cam footage of him performing this live in his concert in Almaty last month & it is just as spine-tingling as the mv. You can see at the end just how much he put into his performance because he looks completely exhausted. It's well worth you reacting to. Dimash says in his lower voice: Адам керуен, өмір жол. Man is a caravan, life is a road. (Kazakh proverb) So, for me, the caravan in the video represents our inner world. Notice that the religious man dies when one part of Dimash dies when he finds his dead daughter. Then, when he seeks revenge, there is a storm... He find his revenge but ends dead. Yes, I understand what you mean when you say it's risky to make such a costly (it was about $7 million) short film at this stage of his career, but Dimash has been preoccupied and hurt since he was a child about why people can't live in peace, this topic has come up in several of his songs, and wars are now taking place in countries too close to his homeland,He had to do it, and if he decided on something and had a way to do it, it wouldn't matter to him how much, what it would cost. It's good to see you back. This has been hailed as a masterpiece across the globe. Dimash started writing the music 3 years ago, he then wrote the screenplay and according to Kazakh press it took 20 days to film, 300 people were involved in the music video and another 100 for the music. It's reputedly the most expensive music video ever made at over $7 million. It's something that you expect from an artist who's had a lifetime of experience not a young man of 28 who still hasn't reached the pinnacle of his career, not to mention that his acting skills are pretty much Oscar worthy now. Even seasoned acting coaches and film directors have commented on how good an actor he has become.

As already mentioned in the comments, the symbol is a gomon from a compass, but when it becomes a symbol of war, the hole that lets the light through is blackened, so it is not the same symbol. I saw someone suggest elsewhere that this symbolizes losing the ability to find true north, and equate that to losing one's moral compass. I think it's a good analogy. Dimash's choice to use his platform/influence/ power to speak in this way, rather than to serve himself, gives me so much respect for him as a person. How often does it happen that the most gifted people are also worthy of so much respect for their character? I have not seen it often.

There are three times in the clip "The Story of One Sky": 1. Past - children on the beach (Dimash and his future wife, and the future Dictator) 2. The present - the war (Piper, Dimash and his pregnant wife, the death of his daughter) does not mean a specific war, but all the wars at the moment on the planet, the struggle and hatred between people. 3. The future is the death of the Piper and the hero Dimash, the birth of Dimash's son, the unification of all people, regardless of religion and beliefs, skin color and nationality. These are my views on this amazing masterpiece Story of One Sky - I have watched this many times and still find things out that i never thought of amazing video and i have said it before if anyone could bring peace i strongly believe Dimash could make it possible. This needs to be shared worldwide to show people there is another way. War is never the answer because the only ones to suffer are the innocent. Rewatched the song of Dimash today one line stood out to me One of the most profound lines in The Story of One Sky is the line "Learn to share the love, Not shares" Not shares meaning stop making money out of war rich people have many shares in companies that profit from weapon manufacturing making them richer while the innocent suffer sadly this is why war exists. MONEY, GREED and POWER. The boy who was drowning was (Dimash's character as a child) made the necklaces that were given to the girl who grew up to be (Dimash's pregnant wife) and the boy who saved him who (grew up to be the military leader), possibly out of jealousy. The military leader waged his war The part in the video with the little girl and the people in the hallway were Dimash's family who had been wiped out the little girl whose body he picked up was his daughter, the baby that was born was his son who grew up to be Dimash grown up at the end!!! The Dimash at the end can also be seen as Dimash in the afterlife leading others to the light in peace. The This video needs to be shown worldwide. Something else i noticed is in his dying breath he sang (We're Choosing Life) as he finally passed away now that is powerful
