Your reaction actually makes my hair stand on end! You appear to be so spiritually sensitive! Yes, a portal! I think you'll find it fascinating how my life after death experience mysteriously 'dove-tails' with this and other of Dimash's performances. When I was 25 (41 yrs ago), I unexpectedly dropped dead in a hospital x-ray room. God's angels came to get me - and the angel who 'lifted' me the whole time looked exactly like Dimash! As crazy as it sounds - it's true! And the man at the piano, Igor Krutoy (who works closely with Dimash) looks like the Holy Spirit (who I saw at the end of my life after death experience! When I stood face to face with God and Jesus at heaven's gate, I asked them to let me come back to try to save America (long story). During this song 'Stranger', it's almost as if Dimash is singing the angel's part and also my part! I know it sounds wild - and no I'm not crazy (LOL). That is an ancient Kazakh instrument called a kolbyz. Dimash is a 29 yr old very patriotic Kazakh who sings in 14 languages, plays 9 instruments, has a PhD in composition, composes a lot of his music, he sings in just about any genre, including excellent rock, pop and rap along with his obvious perfection of classical voice and opera training. There’s is much to learn and enjoy and love about Dimash. His fans are called “ Dears.” He is truly a humanitarian, humble super genius man who is on a mission. He has his own creative production company called “ Dimashali” and he’s creative and business head while his father, Qanat and an old fam friend help to run things as well. Dimash is producing and directing now. This song is about Reincarnation, “Somewhere I my heart in ancient times I wandered through the valleys I have climbed among these hills. Faces from the past I’m haunted by their memories. Dimash is the greatest technical vocalist on the planet by any measurable metric. Thanks again for featuring Dimash on your channel. Beautiful heartfelt reaction. He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies like this that have such a mystical vibe. I think this is rather an Arabic influence. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz (the instrument you mentioned) for that. The kobyz is a very old Kazakh folk instrument and it’s spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. Dimash is from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and he currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1(B0) - whistle D8 off the piano) At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert). But many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was amazing. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Please react to Sinful Passion next. And watch the videos till the end and you will see how kind and lovely he is. And I always recommend turning on the subtitles, if available. Here he sings in a competition for young musicians, called New Wave in Sochi, Russia. He was there in 2018 as a guest. The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano (like here in Stranger). The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. These last three songs are mind-blowing and will leave you speechless. I promise. Dimash and the composer of this song, Igor Krutoy (at piano), often use archetypes in their music. This epic piece evokes the journey of soul (wandering in ancient times, haunted by memories, and lost loves ) as it finds itself in an expanded state of awareness (new ground, chance to know who I am, begin again). Hesitantly at first, he even stumbles a bit, but with growing confidence, Dimash takes us on a journey and with that last refrain, he totally owns this new ground. Like in many of his arrangements, Dimash incorporates sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully, but always with great respect. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and knows exactly what Dimash wants to accomplish. Together they create magic. Dimash insisted on the use of the kobyz, an instrument which was used in Kazakh shamanism to communicate with spirits, and it fits beautifully. The best Kobyz player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck, performs masterfully as always.

This song always delivers no matter how many times I hear it (and I listen to it A LOT!!) He’s got all the octaves and there are times he sounds like an instrument. I’ve heard him sound like a electric guitar and recently saw a fan video of his latest concert rehearsal and he “sang” the part of the kobyz! Yes. There is a Hero in the house and his name is Dimash. 😂🙃🤣 He often addresses * humanitarian and anti-war themes in his work. This song was written by the Composer: Igor Krutoy { seen there on the piano} especially for the voice of Dimash. After all; who else on the planet could sing it!? Dimash has been working on his lower range and now goes from this dip into Bass, all the way up to High Soprano and above that into Whistle range. This is not about some 'alien portal' - > * Here Dimash is using his many voices { young, old, childlike, male and female } to represent the plight of the ever growing numbers of displaced peoples across the world. Forced to flee from their homes to try to start again with nothing, as Strangers in Strange Lands. { The Lyrics are from an American Songwriter; Sara Vaughn } # That instrument BTW - that everyone sits up and asks; " What IS that!?"- is a Kazakh KOBYZ. It is very ancient. One of the ancestors of all our modern day stringed instruments. It's sound is powerful and haunting and was believed traditionally to have the power to banish evil spirits and heal the sick. Because of this only Shamans and Medicine Men were allowed to play it. 😊

I really enjoy your reactions to Dimash! I have been following him since the beginning of the Chinese Singer series in early 2017. Listen, this video/song is all about immigration. The lyrics tell you that. The instrument you liked , is a Kobis. Dimash uses alot of his Kazach folk instruments in his music. The guy on the piano got together with Dimash and they colaborate to make great performances. Keep on listening to him. He always does something different, and many genres.
