I love how he always highlights members of his group. Just watching them and taking it all in as we all do. Oh yeah, never doubt those vocals. He says "Come On baby" then "loud" then "now" when he staring at them. Again. I love to see how much he loves and admires the people surrounding him on the stage

What has always gotten to me in this performance is the fact of how clearly his voice is with all the instruments playing and all the background singers going you can still hear his voice. I don't mean the mic was turned up more. I mean his voice alone is so unique you can perceive it regardless of everything else. I mean those trumpets are really sounding off!!! Thanks reacting to this. As we say in Texas; Y'all be safe.

Elvis crossed generations in his time with music. In the 20th century he was very much a part of American culture. It's kind of haunting how long ago this seems. I was a pre-schooler when my parents took our family to see this at my Uncle's house who had a very big satellite dish in his backyard. It's memorable because my Uncle showed me a baby coral snake he had in an aquarium when I first saw Elvis. I had grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and my siblings and cousins all in the living room keeping an eye on the snake, and watching Elvis. Satellite TV was new technology for homes back then. This and the final episode of M.A.S.H. (an old comedy series) made a hit on world satellite.

Can we not give enough credit to the man playing the flute in this video? This man had over a billion people watching him and if he blows just one note it ruins the whole thing.
@garyfreeman5719
@garyfreeman5719 12 сағат бұрын
He did miss a note the night before at rehearsal. Which would’ve been the original show . Had something happened to main show . If you look he glances over at Elvis as he bridges that last note. Like “ I nailed it “ looking for Elvis’s approval. Take a look as he turns around and looks at band during crescendo building. He looks right over at him like “ Yes Sir you did nail it “ before acknowledging the rest of his band and how good they have done up to that part. He is egging them on with his eyes and yelling at them to give him one more Chorus . As if he’s saying because I’m fixing to turn around and lift the roof off this place.

Oh it's definitely regarded as an iconic performance for sure. And it's a Song of the South followed by a song of the north followed by a slave lullaby and then he ties it all together for the grand finish. It's so amazing. And I love how he always puts the spotlight on other members of his band. Not just in this but he does it consistently.

Pure Magic on that stage! Fun Fact: if u look closely Elvis has bandaids above the rings on his fingers, except for one. They were put on him because he was known for taking them off & giving them to his fans. He saw a little girl in the front row in a wheelchair. He had a ring that was $35-$40,000 and he took it off & gave to the little girl. It was reported that Elvis spent over $700,000 in jewelry that he gave mostly away. He bought over 200 Cadillacs that he gave away. To complete strangers... This is just one reason why he has such a loyal fan base & loved so much. That concert in Hawaii raised over $75,000 for Cancer. You both are my new favorite channel. Binged alot of your content. If I may make some suggestions... Oh and I forgot to mention, my favorite part is the big drum and Banfield up to the big finish, he is in total hundred percent lockn state with his band and he's looking back at them and this incredible death stare and then he's just like giving them energy with just his facial expressions and then he turns and punches his fist in the air and then joins in and Rises up to that thunderous vocal. Just unbelievable. I never get tired of watching that.

As others have said, despite being the biggest star on the planet at the time, he was happy to share the spotlight with JD Sumner & the Stamps, his male backing group with their piece, and then the Flautist, Gabe Balthazar. Gabe was legendary in Jazz circles as a flautist and sax player, he passed away only last year ...

I had my first 45 rpm of Elvis in 1962 when I was 6 yrs old... I watched the live satellite concert which is shown here in 1973 with friends... It was such a big deal at the time...most of the world was watching this historic concert when it aired by satellite... The square diamond ring you mentioned cost him $ 35,000 to have made at the time...Upon Elvis's death the ring went to Elvis's bass singer and oldest friend, J.D. Sumner...it can be seen on a few of J.D's gospel videos on his left hand...after J.D. died, the ring went to Graceland to be put with thousands of other Elvis artifacts where it remains today...Great reaction, guys...Keep being awesome !!!...
