Can you imagine being just 21 years of age and being able to command such stage presence? Television was still in its infancy, and he'd only made a few appearances thus far, but he understood the medium and learned how to connect with both audiences---in the theater and at home.

I love how he's incredibly charismatic but you can tell there's a lot of shyness in him too. it's like he just gets in the zone when he starts singing and the shyness dissolves.

That was quite a bit of insecurity. He did not handle criticism well and he was criticized a lot. He was the original evil rock and roll. He was controlled by his managers. Drugs that were constantly fed him from a young age make you paranoid and delusional. He was petrified of The Beatles. And The Rolling Stones. That they were going to make him absolutely. Nothing could ever make Elvis obsolete. But he did not know that. He never did.

When Elvis came on the scene it was like in the movie "The Wizard of Oz" the music world went from black and white to living color.

Or one might say from vanilla white to to chocolate black. The living color was already there, a profound influence for him. Next recommendation: Heartbreak Hotel, the very first 45 RPM I ever bought, with my saved-up, but never put-in-the-church-plate allowance. That was before they had those little printed envelopes to keep tabs on choir kids' donations. I was 12.

That was him too! No training. No coaching. Basic education...he was his own producer, choreographer, comedian, later actor....unbelievable. He actually got a kick out of how people reacted and didn't understand it. They said you could feel him walking into a room without seeing him.

He was a phenomenon. Seeing him now , he may not seem so outrageous but back in the 1950’s nobody had ever seen or heard anything like it before. He was just 21 years old and could command the stage like no one else . This show was in front of a live audience….. just a twitch could send the girls wild . There’s never going to be another performer like him . A one off for sure 😍

Definitely a character. He’s got his blue velour shirt on coupled with the gold lame vest that June Juanico gave him for a Christmas present and let’s not forget his eyeliner and makeup. I love his word plays. This is one of my favorite live performances where he does the thing with his eyes at the audience and especially the ending where he does that whole thing with his hands. He knew exactly what he’s doing and is in total command of the stage and his audience. Love this guy. No one is/was his equal. He truly is the GOAT.

No words could describe Elvis completely. He was only 21 there, just incredible to think of it now. He had what no one had before or since, an ability to connect to people like a magnet, he drew people to him. I have listened to his music for many decades now, the first music I remember hearing as a small child. Something about him connected with peoples hearts immediately and ever since over all the years. He was a good kind man who gave and gave to the world, I visited Graceland twice years ago and was astonished at his humanitarianism, much of which he kept secret. He started giving 100.000 dollars at Christmas to charities when he was so young and continued on all his life doing so many kind deeds. I am enjoying your discovery of Elvis so much!

If you would like to hear another "YOUNG ELVIS" song, actually one of my ALL time favorites, out of almost 800 songs that he recorded, try "Jailhouse Rock"! But, make sure that you have the clip from the Movie "JAILHOUSE ROCK"! He is FANTASTIC and so very, very young! I am so excited that you are discovering the HUGE rabbit hole that belongs to the KING of ROCK and ROLL, ELVIS PRESLEY! Each song that he sang was pure GENIUS, as was he. I have been obsessed with him since the first moment that I ever saw him, and I am from his own generation! To say the least; I am NO spring chicken! Thank you for giving the youth of today, the opportunity to witness actual talent...he had no auto tune or any kind of musical enhancement. He just honed his craft; he worked for it! Thanks again! You are definetly becoming one of my favorite reactors!

A very young 18 or 19 year old Elvis. He was such a good man, and would give away Cadillac's, and homes to perfect strangers who were struggling with family situations. There is a documentary out there called something like "Elvis and the Black community", much of which, is narrated by Black people that knew Elvis before he was famous, you should watch. It's an eye opener for both Black and white folks. It tells a wonderful story about the segregation in the south, when Elvis was a boy in Mississippi, and later in Nashville. He and Johnny Cash were friends, before either one had ever made a record. Thanks

This was a monster hit for Elvis. But if you could react to his second hit, "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You", you will hear kind of raw rock and roll for its time. I’m 72 and I’ve been a fan since he started his career. To me this song’s goal is not so much to woo the ladies, but rather to get you on the dance floor, tap your foot or bob your shoulders, but you’ll be moving and singing along! And that is the essence of Elvis - he reaches/touches the fans with his music.

Great reaction to a young Elvis. He was censored from the waist down in all televised performances, due to parents being outraged because of his ‘suggestive’ dance moves. He used to say if he couldn’t move he couldn’t sing, & then he was drafted into the army to get him out of sight, because he refused to allow segregation laws in Memphis to prevent him from being with his black friends, many of whom he had grown up with. Threatened with jail if he moved at all when performing on stage. But young Elvis was a rebel & he paved the way for future freedom of expression by singers. I feel sad that he had to go through so much bad stuff for just moving his legs when he sang. I see that you haven’t done any Elvis Reactions for a year. If you are still doing this, you will probably enjoy Suspicious Minds performed in 1973 in Las Vegas. You’ll see lots of dancing action, some of Elvis’ renowned playfulness on stage, & of course some wonderful singing. A great performance, which was included in the new Elvis film, with Austin Butler.

But every time I do, I'm blown away that his mastery just kept on increasing right up until he died. He was so affected by health issues at that point and they had him on so many drugs just to keep him going. But whenever he started to sing or started playing the piano to sing along with it, that voice and that mind were just immediately right there. Both performances of How Great Thou Art are good, but I think the 1977 one is unarguably the best one for me. The vocal performance on that just blows me away and the long sustains that the choir is doing near the end gives me goosebumps every time. I think I timed it out once at 35 seconds. But obviously there's got to be some shared rotating breathing in there but even so, they're obviously all there for that last final blast and it's just all out power and sustain until he cuts them off finally.

@memphisflashfan1 I saw him in 77 a few months before he died. It's hard to pick which one, but I think the 77 version. I also saw him on New Years Eve of 76. Brought in the 76 New year with him. The difference in his health was astounding in less than 2 years. But his passion with this song never waned...he was amazing.

@memphisflashfan1 The floor of the stadium rumbled when JD Sumner hit the low bass notes and then Cathy Westmoreland hit those high soprano notes like an angel. Mind blowing and beautiful!

This was Muhammad Ali's favorite song ( KZfaq has a short clip of Muhammad Ali mentioning this) he was a huge Elvis fan and they were both great friends and admirers of each other.

His individual style, his super, dizzy, artistic vein and gorgeous performance made Elvis a special, wonderful, radiating joie de vivre and unforgettable artist. Not to mention his strikingly charming exterior features and elegant appearance. Thanks for sharing. ✌️👑👼❤️🫶🌞

One of the Jordainairres (not spelled right) but one of them said he was so nervous he kept backing up to be close to them to the point he stepped on one of the foot of one of them. I love the ways he watches the audience. He did that every concert til his very last.I’ve been a fan for 53 yrs. He has the whole package .

React to an Elvis Movie Polo. He did a few of them. He sings. He loves. And he shows that Charm you were talking about.

Love your reactions. I subscribed after your first Elvis video! Requests: "Suspicious Minds", & "Bridge Over Troubled Water", both live in Las Vegas 1970. First one shows his energy, & the 2nd one shows his passion!
