In sickness, the PHENOMENAL So Hyang still gives a MASTER CLASS performance. She is sitting down, because she was still recovering from one of her numerous bouts with pnuemonia, and she did not feel strong enough to stand. During her cancer surgery in her early 20s, So Hyang needed a blood transfusion. She contracted hepatitis b, and as a result, made her susceptible to pnuemonia, which she had eight times, between 2016 - 2018.

nooo.. Her pneumonia peaked in 2019-2020. Her health was at its worst in 2020, so she had no big stage activities and she was only did small stages like charity or church performances. I know well because I saw her performances in person about 5 or 6 times at that time. Depending on the condition of the day, the power was still there, but she struggled a lot because trouble with her breathing. so she often had cracks in her larynx when she sang. She started recovering slowly from 2021, and the song that heralded her recovery was 'Amazing grace'.

@@Littlewings_P Sohyang is currently fighting covid19. She came down with it this past Thursday. Hepatitis B gives any person who has the incurable strain a lifetime of bouts with pneumonia and can reek havoc on your liver, as well. This immune compromised situation she lives with has had me seriously concerned about her coming down with covid19 since this wretched disease came on the scene in 2020. Please keep her in your prayers. 👌

@@t.lucalake8963 I misunderstood the year. Her worst was in 2019 and it was in 2020 that she release the song Amazing grace and started to recover little by little. I don't know what you talking about.. her own memory? she had never been said about the exact year. she always said 'in recent years' in every interview because her pneumonia isn't completely over.

this is when she's so sick bcz of her illness. she lost her lots of weight at that time. but her live singing performance is still no joke. I always feel so sorry and sad whenever I watch this vid 😔 😭 😢

Never heard of her but she can really sing. After looking her up - Kim So-hyang, known mononymously as Sohyang, is a South Korean singer-songwriter who has been dubbed by the international media as the "Korean Mariah Carey"

Welcome to Sohyang's world. They did dub her that but she is herself and she doesn't whistle. I think she covers Whitney's songs better than Miriah's. Try looking up "I have Nothing" DMC festival on KZfaq. Sohyang is a cancer survivor who sings to comfort not for fame.

We don't know many good singers because a lot of us are only listening to western music. She it probably the most well known singer in her country (South Korea).

@@rolfspuler1056 Unfortunately, it isn't. Even in Korea, there are many more people who do not know about her. Actually now I'm a big fan of her, but I only found her two years ago. If I ask my co-workers or family members about Sohyang, they will said "I don't know well but I heard her name". However, it is true that it is more well known than before.

I personally recommend her You raise me up (2018) which was also one of the performances while she was suffering pneumonia. Brendan Graham, the songwriter himself had to try hard to contact Sohyang to thank her as soon as he heard her rendition of the song. It's really phenomenal and heavenly beautiful performance so you should miss it.

You are right about the lyrics. Nice to know what the words are but not necessary. You can get all you need to know from the emotion imbued in every note from Sohyang's singing.

If you want to hear a BADASS rapper, I HIGHLY recommend you react to the PHENOMENAL So Hyang, singing 'Day Day'. The best version Is from the Begin Again Korea, mini concert series in 2020. So Hyang, along with several other well known artists, performed mini concerts throughout South Korea, during the pandemic. So Hyang is spitting bars like she's been doing it all of her life.

If I understand the background of the song, it is about an American soldier in Vietnam and the local woman he falls in love with. But he has to leave and is not able to take her with him, though he longs to with all his heart. I believe she sings this to him before they part. Just writing this makes me cry! 💔😭😥

@@johnhoran888 The total extent that I know about this, as I've been told, is that it is a song from a Korean movie from the 2000s. I was told it was about the Vietnam war but the Korean war is just as plausible. Thanks for the info.
