Yeah brilliant from start to end. I picked it up in 87 because I thought the cassette cover looked cool. Didn't even know who G'N'R were....blew my mind

I loved this album, no gimmicky "love in an elevator" Cheery Pie" nonsense. No silly saccharine ballads. Just awesome all the way through.

Scott Jolly lol cassettes were very annoying things with tape, the tape had the track on but it always unwound so you’ve have to wind it back in and hope that you wound it back straight...they were annoying but man you felt like a boss rocking a Walkman

I just read Duff's book and it's astounding that they could function at all with the sheer quantity of booze and drugs they were taking. Obviously it all imploded eventually, but for five years they were unquestionably the greatest rock band on the planet.

@@JWitt30 Probably my favourite Duff story is that in the '90s he took a pile of his money and, being a proud Seattle boy, invested it in three fledgeling Seattle companies. They were called Starbucks, Microsoft and Amazon. His stock portfolio must be insane, especially since he went to college and got a degree in business and financial management.

Like welcome to the Jungle, been on GTA, used yearly in adverts, used for movies etc. Only thing I believe is that maybe they’ve never seen the video... If they did other less popular songs from Appetite and Use your Illusions it be believable eg most people never heard Brownstone, So Easy, My Michelle, Eden, Perfect Crime etc.

The GNR rabbit hole is a really fun one to go down. I'd recommend Don't Damn Me, as the lyrics are especially relevant these days. Get In The Ring is like the rock version of a diss track, and they don't hold anything back. Welcome to the Jungle is about when Axl first got to LA. There's also Mr. Brownstone, You Ain't the First, My Michelle, Patience, Bad Apples, as well as everything everyone else listed too.

Who wouldn't want to play that great in front of a so many? Who doesn't want that feeling? I wanted such glory at the age of 14 and I still want it today at 58. There's being on stage....and then there's owning the stage. Never mistake the two.

The trilogy. Don't cry, November Rain, and Estranged. In that order otherwise it's even more confusing. Garden of Eden is another song that will put you out of breath. And Coma is the story of how axl got into an argument and tried to kill himself with sleeping pills and whiskey. I suggest pulling up the lyrics for that one.

@@BH-zc6hu oh ok, thanks for the reply. I got the CD on my rack and could easily look it up, but I took a chance trying to remember how long it was. At the time, for me at least - long time ago, when I first heard it, it definitely seemed like the longest song I ever hear recorded lol

People mistake this song as a declaration of how great Los Angeles is but the lyrics actually declare on how awful it is, how you have to fight for even the tiniest bit of ground. And the band lived through that reality, they knew all about drugs addiction, poverty and dealing with both gang violence and police brutality.
