Paradise City was released on the 1987 album Appetite for Destruction with the MV released in 1988. This song is Slash's favorite song. This song tells about the city of heaven on earth. Quite mundane indeed. This song was created when Guns N' Roses was on their way back from performing in San Francisco. At that time, Axl Rose was singing the phrase 'take me down to the paradise city' to which the guitarist, Slash, responded with the phrase 'where the grass is green and the girls are pretty'. Then ended by Axl with 'take me home'.

True story, back in the day I was in the Army. Some of my friends and I rented a house off-post (mostly for partying). I was dating a girl, she had brought her sister over. We were hanging out eating Otterpops (this was in Oklahoma during summer, so hot out), I think we were playing this album. This girls sister was sure the name of the song was "Prairie Dog City", I still laugh about that. Say what you will, the 80's were pretty fun.

Wrong......he has 5 octaves. Corey taylor has more (5.5 octaves) and Mike patton of faith no more/mr bungle has over 6 octaves. Myles Kennedy is way better that axl rose. In one breath. 👍
@NZLatic
@NZLatic 2 жыл бұрын
Myles Kennedy might have a bigger vocal ranger than Axl (debatable but possible) but he has to be one of the most boring vocalists of all time. Axl had all the swag and charisma, and his voice was different - it had its own sound and characteristics. Axl always reminded me of a heavy sounding Mick Jagger. I’d have have Axl over Myles any day of the week.

@@NZLatic I used to love all the swagger and attitude of axl Rose when they were in their prime and I was a teenager. (Never liked mock jagger and the stones still to this day) as I have grown into my late 40's I don't look for that in a front man anymore. I prefer myles Kennedy as he is a nice guy down to earth and a much better human being that axl Rose ever was. Still, never gonna take away the talent that axl Rose has as I still to this day enjoy listening to guns and roses to this day. Just my opinion.

It is wonderful to see you having so much fun hearing this great song and if you by now have listened to more G&R I know you must have become a kind of a fan as well. Thank you. ~ Vals

The album this is off of, Appetite For Destruction, was the first album I ever bought with my own money. It was a few years after it came out and I got the money doing a paper route back when kids could still do that and my first paycheck I bought this immediately. I had heard 3 songs from the album that were videos on MTV and on the radio but I needed to hear all of it. Found out REAL quick why they didn't play those songs on tv or radio 😂. Five years ago I FINALLY saw them. One of my bucket list bands for sure. This was the last song they played. They played for 3 and a half hours! So, yeah, even all these decades later Axl can still sing this one no problem after a long show. As for recommendations I have 2 (you know besides EVERY GNR song): 1. Rocket Queen (from the same album as this song). 2. A very underrated one that Guns N Roses have never played live called Don't Damn Me.

I have flashbacks to being 5 years old in 1988, and jamming out to this song playing on the radio while sitting the in the back seat of my mom's car with a mullet going halfway down my back lol. Love this band's music. Such amazing musicians. I always loved how Izzy and Slash would play guitar parts that were separate from each other, but still blended together. Slash was one of the reasons I picked up guitar. As I got good enough to get into bands, no one was looking for yet another guitarist, but bassists and drummers instead. I eventually said fuck it, and moved over to playing bass. The first band I played in covered like 6 Guns N' Roses songs. I quickly learned how underrated Duff McKagan is as a bassist, and he ended up becoming an accidental influence on bass that made me become a much better bassist than I was ready for lol. I was there for this show where they filmed this video. Giants Stadium East Rutherford NJ 1988 and the headliner was Aerosmith and Deep Purple so GNR was 3rd on the bill that Sunday. What a great show!

Paradise City is from Gun's N Roses' s first ever album "Appetite for Destruction" I used to sing this when I was a teenager with my band friends (childhood friends and brother). This is my favorite album of GNR and then the Lies album. Listen to Mr. Brownstone, My Michelle, Nightrain, It's so easy, You're Crazy and Rocket Queen. Best days of my life, my era, the 80s. I didn't wear tights though. LOL. That's the snake dance.

Slash is the lead guitarist. He plays a Gibson Les Paul, and is on record for having the biggest Les Paul collection in the world. Guns And Roses were from California, they broke up a long time ago. But Slash is still making music. He is also a really cool guy.

You heard Paradise City, if you want to hear his vocal range do the following next songs: "Patience", "Nice boys", "It's So Easy", "Rocket Queen"

"Oh that's a lot of hair." They were called hairbands back in the day and for a valid reason. :)

Guns N’ Roses couldn’t be more American. They’re from LA and although they kept me waiting 3 hours to come on stage when I went to see them about 5 years ago, they’re the best!

They are from Los Angeles. Well, they are from all over the US but they started the band in LA. In fact, their first hit, Welcome To The Jungle, was a story about the lead singer's arrival from small town middle America to the craziness of Los Angeles and all of it's vice's like sex, drugs and rock n roll.

Yes, it does have a taste of a country vibe during the intro. Never thought about it like that. =)

Excellent song, it convinced me to buy the CD. I noticed on another reaction of yours that you liked performers who knew what they are doing. I highly recommend Johnny Cash "Hurt" as something to react to, but you will need to have tissue's as you will cry.

``start at the beginning..."welcome to the jungle" "then "sweet child of mine" from the album Appettite for Destruction By Guns N Roses and you can run through to "Estranged" and it will all of happened,what axel rose was feeling about woman and how the relationship was coming along...and such much more touchy feely not the choppy speed metal but a softer side of hard rock this little known band at the time was a cassette recording of Its so easy at a party and had this in cassette and we blasted it in our cars...you will enjoy it

I really want to recommend "November Rain" by this band to you! With this song I connect an important time in my life! I was kinda dissatisfied at the time! I had been trying to fit in at my school until then! But somehow I never made it! Then came the point where I decided I didn't need it! I decided that I want to be different! I didn't want to wear the same clothes as the others! I thought the music that was modern at the time was very terrible! That's when I got to know the above song! I thought that was so cool! And it helped me to develop into what I am today!
