Country folks are all across the land, we come in every race and skin tone, we are taught to live off the land, hunt, fish, grow your own food and the city people call us names and look down on us as if we are less than them, they live in big cities where everything is brought to them, when the stores have no food, banks have no money, these people will not know what to do. That's what this song is all about. Those that know how to live off the land will survive.

That’s really the divide in this country, rural vs urban. Amazing how effective identity politics has been getting people to focus on something as simple as skin color and calling that culture.

I moved to TN from Chicago and I married me a country boy. Still my husband 35 years later and my best friend. Could not ask for a better man. He grew up in the country and fishes and we have a huge garden. We are making homemade tomato juice tomorrow along with some delicious homemade salsa. We can green beans and more. Never thought my life would end up like this but I am sure glad it did.

I always loved that he included us in Northern California. People forget that us in Central Valley and Northern California are country folk. I live in a town surrounded by orchards, rodeos, cattle, and fields. We don't even have a grocery store and I raise chickens which is pretty normal in town ☺️
@imweakfordeaky

There are “country folks” all over this land, yes - and as an Ohioan, I’m also glad he included North California. “… and little towns all around this land” - basically anywhere outside the sphere of the big cities ! I live less than a 30 minute drive outside of Cincinnati, and while my town has grown a lot, we still have many “cornfields and cows” farms, and lots of woodlands for deer hunting, rivers and lakes for fishing. I have much more in common with “country folks” than I do with “in-the-city folks” - and hope to move even further out to a more-rural area in the future.
@sr71ablackbird

no shame in raising chickens. one of the neighbors used to do that out by where i used to live at. those roosters can get pretty damned mean though. there was one that when one would feed it. it would fly up and over the fence and went chasing after folks at times.

Hank Jr. is a true country boy and outdoorsman. He fell off a mountain in Montana in 1975 while he was doing some scouting for a bighorn sheep hunt. "A Country Boy Can Survive" has been ingrained as part of the soundtrack of my and so many other lives for four decades plus now.
@christophergraham3160
@christophergraham3160 Жыл бұрын
The guitar says 'Bocephus', one of his nicknames. And speaking of surviving, he fell 500 feet while climbing Ajax Peak in Montana. Ripped most of his face off and was blinded in one eye, and lived to tell the tale. That's why he always has a beard and those dark sunglasses, hides the scars. One of my favorite Country/Southern Rock artists.

Country folks can survive! My family lives off the land for the most part. If things was to go south with this world we would survive. Some of us know how to grow, others fish and hunt and some of us know how to use herbs for medicinal purposes and how to find water. You should try Hank Williams Jr....The Coalition & The Ballad of Hank Williams (Hank Williams Jr's dad!) Jr sings it about his dad. The Coalition is funny, but true!!! I love ❤️ Hank Jr. His dad died when 3 & at the height of his career. Jr. learned a lot about his daddy. Oh course all those good old country boys took Jr under their wing & filled him full of knowledge about his dad! Almost every country artist has wrote a song about him or a reference about him. Died at 29, but will be known as the King of Country forever!! 👑🎶❤️

Hey brother, I'm a country boy from Idaho. This song has so much meaning for me. When I was in the military, my friends were from inner citys. And I ended up in an inner city...a few actually. But this was always my anthem. I have turned many brothers to Hank Jr. Just as they have turned me to a lot of their music. I am still today a huge jazz and blues fan. And while you were feeling this song, your head bounce was exactly what mine was. Thank you for bringing an alternative to your fans. I'm not even a country fan. But just someone from a small town in idaho who loves all music...I just happen to be a metal head.

When everything crashes, we don't know no different. We live off the land, not having money. Don't mean a thing to us. No matter what, us country folks will find a way to survive. When I was 12, I would take a sleeping bag, a fishing pole, a 22lr and a fire starter. Up in the hills around our house and be gone for a week. Just living off the land. Didn't matter where I went my dad and uncles would track and find me. My dad would come up and check on me every day. I sure do miss those carefree days of my summer childhood. It's just a way of life around here. It's sad but I would never let my sons do that when they were that age. 50 years ago, was just a much different time.

Hank Williams Jr's father is probably the biggest and most influential legend in the genre. His father had a huge impact, writing and recording a lot of hits for such a short career. Hank Williams Sr unfortunately passed away at the age of 29, while riding in the back of a Cadillac, heading to a show on New Years Eve Night in 1953. Hank Jr was 3 years old. Hank Jr was raised in the music business to basically be a clone of his father, but when he became an adult, he started wanting to do things his own way. But everybody acted like he was crazy for not staying in the mold that they placed him in. During that time, he went on a big horn sheep hunt in the mountains, and landslide caused him to fall 500ft down a mountain. He landed face-first into a boulder. Crushed his face, knocked his eye out of it's socket, and exposed part of his brain. His friend hiked out to get help, while the friend's young son stayed with Hank and talked to him to help keep him calm and awake. Help finally came roughly 4 hours later, and he awoke several days later in a hospital with June and Johnny Cash by his bedside. Ever since that accident, he started wearing the beard, hat, and shades to cover up the scars.. Hank Jr is a legend in his own right. Him and his father are on my Mount Rushmore of favorite artists. His song "All In Alabama" kinda touches on that accident, with a positive message.. I haven't seen anyone react to it yet.

I've listened to a lot of reactors on this song and they never understand what the line " I'd love to spit some Beechnut in that dude's eye" As all of us country boys know Beechnut is a brand of chewing tobacco...thought you might like to know

Hank Williams Sr. gave his son his nickname “Bocephus” after Grand Ole Opry comedian Rod Brasfield's ventriloquist dummy. During radio performances he would send a message to his son, closing shows by saying, “Don't worry, Bocephus, I'm coming home.”
