This was written by Kris Kristoferson, but Janis made it her own.

I was going to put the same comment. Kris and Janis were new friends and Kris was trying to write some songs. Janis covered this and was going to surprise Kris with it. And she did, not only with the quality of her cover, but because it was really the last great song she recorded. It wasn't even released until after her death, and Kris didn't hear it either until after her death. He was very touched and amazed by it. A great loss to the music world. I think she had many years of greatness ahead of her, both as a person and a singer. Janis was unique. She broke the mold. Tragically drug abuse took her life. Databyter

Janis was a Texas girl with lots of soul and passion in her powerful voice. Tragically she is part of the 27 Club. Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain all deid at 27 years of age. 😢 This song was written by singer/songwriter and actor, Kris Kristofferson. ✌❤🌹

Janis never sang a song she didn't pour her entire being into. "Ball and Chain" and "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)" are great examples, but honestly, you can't go wrong whatever you choose to listen to. For something a little different try her song "Mercedes Benz."

Although I have watched many of your reaction videos, this is the one that got me to subscribe today. You did a nice job with this one and I’m glad you have been introduced to Janis. Thank you for what you are doing with your channel. There is another Janis, Janis Ian, who has one of the most beautiful voices I have heard over the past 45+ years. Every song on her “Between The Lines” album is outstanding. People know it best by “At Seventeen,” her lonely high school girl saga that is poignant, beautifully written, played, and sung. It’s always popular around Valentine’s Day all these years later.

One of the absolutely greatest recordings of all time!! Me and my late wife used to sing this out loud every time it came on the radio. The line "I'd trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday of holding Bobby's body close to mine" has truly special and significant meaning for me now. And yes, her music has MOST DEFINITELY lived on. Janis only released two solo albums, but she was also the lead singer for Big Brother & The Holding Company, which was the actual artists for most of her biggest hits.
