Young man, I am so sorry. We had that, all of it, peace, acceptance, love, borders, religion, skin color, accent, ... It all meant nothing to us, we were hippies. Peace love and acceptance was our motto. I raised all my boys that way and they are with Wonderful women of all shades, whom I love like daughters. I'm sorry you missed it son. You would have fit in my family so easily. And yes I am a Caucasian sister.... Like I said before.... It didn't matter. This is part of the best music ever and it always triggers a lot of emotions with me because it was played at my father's funeral. Do you remember where you were on December 8th, 1980, when you heard the news that John Lennon died? I remember that date very clearly.

The people who truly love us are never gone. As long as there is a memory in your mind, they're never really leave you. All of the magic went out of Christmas when my beloved father passed. Because I was raising my children I couldn't afford to be sad in front of them. My heart was broken, Christmas was my father's favorite holiday, he became the biggest kid..... John Lennon October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980. The Beatles broke up in late 1969. Their last performance was on the roof on the recording studio. On 30 January 1969, the Beatles performed an impromptu concert from the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Savile Row, in central London's office and fashion district. Joined by guest keyboardist Billy Preston, the band played a 42-minute set before the Metropolitan Police arrived and ordered them to reduce the volume. It was the final public performance of their career. They performed nine takes of five new songs as crowds of onlookers, many on lunch breaks, congregated in the streets and on the rooftops of nearby buildings to listen. The concert ended with "Get Back", and John Lennon joking, "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we've passed the audition."

Without wanting to overstate the facts, you will never understand the history and development of popular music until you get to grips with The Beatles. Look at how basic things were in 1962 when they picked up the baton and soon established themselves as trailblazers, how they rapidly developed the genre throughout the mid-1960s, and how in 1969 they disbanded, leaving popular music almost unrecognisable from what it had been a mere 7 years earlier.

I was 9-years-old when The Beatles first appeared on The Ed Sullivan show, February 9, 1964 -- their first national exposure in the US, exactly 60 years ago tomorrow. On that date, Ringo Starr & John Lennon were 23, Paul McCartney, 21, & George Harrison, 20 (2 weeks shy of 21) - that's how VERY young they really were!!! I LOVED them immediately, feelings that never waned, & they have been the most prominent & beloved band on the soundtrack of my life ever since. Facts everyone should know -- John was murdered in NYC on Dec 8, 1980, 10 years after The Beatles broke up. He was 40 years old. George Harrison died of cancer on Nov 29, 2001, age 58. Ringo (now 83) & Paul (81) are alive & well & still delighting audiences with their wonderful music!!!!! The history of The Beatles, & how their empire was built, & why they are still so very popular, is a story every music fan should know!! Everyone in every generation should listen to their extensive & incredibly entertaining catalogue & learn their stories, & find out how 4 young lads from Liverpool, England changed the world!!! There are innumerable reasons & recordings (from 1962-1970) that show why The Beatles are the GOATs among all the other GOATS in the world, & you should do yourself a favor and listen to it all. I know you'll enjoy the ride!! Each band member also had a very successful post-Beatles career, & there is SO MUCH great music in that assortment as well!!!

John Lennon to his fans was a like the Dali Lama. Humanly flawed but exquisitely good, man of peace and happiness. This song was the longing of a better world. It was 1971 and I was eleven. I saved up to buy my first record album. I still have it. Nine years later he was dead. I was twenty and working as store manager at Toys R Us in NY. I heard it and wept openly. But I know now why God took him home so young. He would never survive the world of hate we live in today. It would have destroyed his beautiful spirit. ❤️ In October 2001, in the aftermath of 9/11, Ozzy Osbourne wrote and recorded a song called Dreamer. He said it was “his” Imagine. I hope you react to it. It’s like volume 2 to this song. Ozzy writes that history repeats itself and we as humans just never learn that hate never wins.

For The Beatles newbies I always recommend you watch their first film 1964s A Hard Days Night. It was and still is critically acclaimed. It's a fun way to learn who was who, their voices and instruments. Paul is always easy to spot because he's left handed so his bass points opposite from John and George's guitars. Ringo is on drums. All four of them sing. George was 19 at the time and as time progressed so did his songwriting. John and Paul wrote most of their songs, but did some killer covers as well. The movie is a great showcase for their earlier songs, and a great portrayal of what their lives were like from 1963 through 1966, when they stopped touring and went into the studio, where they made so many innovations I couldn't begin to list here. Remember, there's no such thing as Beatles music as a category but only Beatles songs. Have fun.

Yes! One of the most important songs ever written. But please baby please...you gots ta get this straight: John Lennon was the Captain of the Beatles. Beatle 001. All of the cool people know this. Keep on rocking. We really get a lot out of your reactions. --when Shon becomes more, he has more to give. I was like #1000!

John and Paul wrote countless songs together. They were incredible together. John broke the group up when he decided to put his efforts into advocating for peace full time. His wife, Yoko, was a "helicopter" wife. Always going to recording sessions, always butting in, and she even screeched on recordings she made with John. She was not well liked and took a lot of blame for breaking up The Beatles. Please listen to more of their music. There's an incredible amount of great songs.

Thats Yoko Ono next to him. His babe and many say is the reason the Beatles broke up. Whats wild about artists like this from the 60 n 70s, they didnt have anything to emulate, they were winging it and it was awesome. When you learn about artists like Lennon, tge Beatles, etc., you will want to know and hear more. Turbulent times made great songwriting!

Lennon was a great song writer that every song he sang had so much great meaning especially now when I hear some music makes me ball . Listen to songs with his wife Yoka Ona and that’s why he left the Beatles.

Hey Shon, I thought I'd suggest a song by "The Beatles", if interested. "The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever" (by the channel: The Beatles) --This song was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon-McCartney. The song was released on their 1967 and was originally intended to be released on their groundbreaking album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," however, it was instead released as a "Double-A side single" along with Paul McCartney's equally famous song "Penny Lane." The song "Strawberry Fields Forever" was a departure from the bands previous work, it crossed over into the lighter side of psychedelic rock and provided a novel listening experience for the contemporary pop music enthusiast. The song "Penny Lane" would also be a great listen in future. As always, I enjoyed rocking with you. Thanks for sharing. peace out~
