Lisa tied with Patti Labelle to win a Grammy Award in 1992 for this song as Best female R &B vocal perfornance. The only reason she is not as well known as Mariah and Whitney is she chose to remain a background vocalist rather than continue in the spotlight abd record more of her own albums after her sensational debut. One of the best whistle note singers ever!! Great reaction!

She is a master back up singer. She only put out 1 solo album. She was not comfortable being in the spotlight. She still sing this good to this day. One of the best vocalists in music.

She is the number one backup singer in the world. Artist fight to have her on tour with them. I have seen her twice on her own tour and I was able to speak with her after her shows. She is such a beautiful spirit. I can't begin to describe the inner and outer beauty of this woman.

I am so glad you reacted to this. She is my all time favorite female vocalist and hands down one of the best female singers. You have to watch the Documentary "20 feet from Stardom" It is about female backup singers, predominantly black, that helped give Rock and roll the flavor it needed, especially British rock. Since they were heavily influenced by the Blues. Lisa is one of the main persons in this Doc. It also talks about how tough it is to transition from a backup singer to a lead singer or your own album. Well done documentary. Watch it! I highly recommend.

Saw her live in Columbia, SC in the early 90s. She was backing Luther (worth the ‘rabbit-hole’) and he brought her forward…the adlibs between them were OFF-THE-CHARTS and unforgettable. My chills still have chills!

Those woman never got their Respect. Real woman with class. Really appreciate that timeless classics are being honored. I truly am saddened that we don't hear true voices anymore. She was a longtime backup singer. She only put out 1 solo album. Won the Grammy for this song. Shes still singing to this day and still sounds amazing. She never felt comfortable being in the spotlight solo.

Look her up!! She toured with Luther Vandross for years and with a super group, named, CHANGE in the 70s. The popular song was "Searching". Luther sang lead. Another fun fact, Luther wrote this song for her. Lisa is indeed blessed. And look up Luther's Wembley Concert, where Lisa joins him. It is nothing less than spectacular🤗🙂💎

Honey then you ought to hear “WILDFLOWER” on that album! I first learned of her because I was a serious Luther Vandross fan, and wanted to know WHO was “hooping” in the background. I was soooo excited when she did her album but, disappointed when that was the ONLY one she did. She never likes being upfront with a solo career so I had to just understand and accept that. I have chatted with her in the past, and she has a beautiful spirit just like her singing and her presentation. I LOVE THIS LADY! I used to flow every riff in Luther’s songs, her a Tawatha Agee. Not to mention her song, “Chain of Broken Hearts”….OMG, those notes make me straight cry!❤❤❤❤❤

And if you pay attention she has a quite a bit of Whitney Houston along with a lot of her own soul she has like three different people in her one vocal but she sounds a whole lot like Whitney on some of those notes
