My heart felt condolences to you and your family .. I can certainly sympathize/empathize, especially around the holiday season. My older brother Jeff (#Forever38) committed suicide Oct. 13, 1997 .. His birthday is/was Dec. 13, 1959. His daughter (only child), whose birthday is Nov. 26, was 1 y/o. She has no memories of Jeff except for what she was told .. I was living in a small WA town along the west coast at the time when I got the unfortunate news. I was a 'more than moderate' drinker and didn't have a phone at the time. One can only imagine just how suddenly nervous I became when I saw a LEO pull up in front and come to my door. I thought "what in the hell did I do last night!?" My family had to contact the local PD to notify me that there was a death in the family and to call home. My initial thoughts was that one of my parents had passed. I could never have fathomed this type of news. It was a shock to the system .. It was difficult to get thru these 3 months in the beginning. It's been 24 years now. I love and miss Jeff very much. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him or a memory get's triggered by something like a song or movie that we both liked. Today .. our mom has dementia .. there have been times when she has asked why we haven't heard from him lately. All I can do now is tell her that he's been busy with work or something and maybe he will call later. It is difficult to find words of comfort .. and as cliche' as this statement is .. "life" will become easier as time passes .. ✝ 🙏 RIP to both ..

They have three guitar players, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins and Steve Gains, Allen wrote this song when he was 16. Allen is actually doing what some call lead with Gary on slide and Steve playing against Allen. Ronnie Van Zant lead singer song writer and general of the band. Leon Wilkinson on Bass. Billy Powell on Piano. Artimus Pyle on drums. and Cassie Gaines, Jojo Billingsley, and Leslie Hawkins the Honketts back up vocals. Plane crash 0ct 20 1977 Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, and Dean Kilpatrick Manager killed along with both pilots.

And all 3 were and are supremely talented. Gary is still with us today and playing live shows. Allan Collins might be the one of the, if not the most most talented guitarist of all time. Steve G was the guitarist lost in the place crash and newly discovered by Ronnie and the group through his sister Cassie who was one of the back up vocalist; who was also killed in the crash. Steve was young and just coming into his own. The world missed out on years of amazing southern rock this band would have produced when the tragic crash happening in 1977. There will never be another Ronnie VZ - who was the leader and driving force of LS. One of the greatest songs of all time

I travelled to as many concerts as I could. I loved the summer out doors concerts. So dang many sun burns. My favorite video of Free Bird live is when they opened for Rolling Stones in England. There's a great story behind it and fans there went wild just like we did in the states. The long instrumentals where the band gets to show out for such a long time is one of the things southern rock is known for. Absolutely in love with it. Allman Brothers Band should be your next southern rock group.

💜y'all puttin in some work😍😉it's great even though you might not be into a particular genre as you learn more about music and history of it, especially in the United states, you will soon see the amount of dedication that must be put in regardless of God given talent. ive learned even though I don't dig a certain kind of music I can still recognize talent. you will see all of a sudden not only are your eyes open but your ears will hear things you never appreciated before 💜hang in, and dig deep into the history of MUSIC IN AMERICA

This song is an expression of a man feeling true freedom from a woman, feeling like a kid again no commitment no nothing just free as a bird.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT !! Next song suggestion from Skynyrd. The music wasn't made for rappers to sample. There was no rap at the time. But it was where the idea originally came from. Long stretches of uninterrupted music became the basis to create your own words over the music of a popular song.

If you were to fight all the rock stars over time in a tournament. The lead singer of this band Ronnie Van Zant would come out victorious...and it would not be close.

It's called the dulling guitars. So one is playing the 1&3 and the other is playing 2&4 which gives you the sound of 2 guitars dualling.
