Hey Music Lovers! 🎶 Strap in for an unforgettable experience as I dive into the timeless classic "Kickstart My Heart" by Mötley Crüe in their Official Music Video! 🚀 Whether you're a die-hard fan or it's your first time hearing this iconic track, join me on this musical journey filled with high-octane energy and legendary rock vibes.
In this reaction video, I'll be sharing my genuine first impressions, breaking down the electrifying visuals, and discovering the magic of Mötley Crüe together. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions and let's explore why "Kickstart My Heart" has become a rock anthem for the ages!
Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band formed in Hollywood, California in 1981. Bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee (AKA Pamela Andersons Ex boyfriend) first joined together with guitarist/lead vocalist Greg Leon. But after some time, Leon was replaced by guitarist Mick Mars and lead vocalist Michael White respectively. The latter was soon replaced by Vince Neil and the Mötley Crüe moniker was chosen soon after that. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. They have also achieved seven platinum or multi-platinum certifications, nine Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart (including 1989's Dr. Feelgood, which is Mötley Crüe's only album to reach number one), twenty-two Top 40 mainstream rock hits, and six Top 20 pop singles. The band has experienced several lineup changes over the years, leaving Sixx as the only constant member; these included the introduction of lead vocalist John Corabi (who was Neil's replacement from 1992 to 1996) and drummers Randy Castillo and Samantha Maloney, both of whom filled in for Lee following his departure from Mötley Crüe in 1999; he returned to the band in 2004. In October 2022, after 41 years of service, Mars announced his retirement from touring with the band, with guitarist John 5 replacing him.
If you're excited to relive the glory days of glam metal or introducing yourself to this rock masterpiece, hit that like button, share with fellow music enthusiasts, and subscribe for more epic reactions! Let's connect through the power of music and keep the algorithm rocking! 🤘🎸

I enjoy the music reactions, even the ones highlighting bands that I don't personally care for. It's interesting to see the development of Diane's tastes. They're always demonetized, though, which makes Patreon and KZfaq channel memberships essential for this type of content to continue. The phrase "motley crew" long predates the band Mötley Crüe (with the obligatory metal umlauts over the O and U). Hehehe #1... Chewie has good taste. As far as the genre, I would place them on the pop side of metal, like most of the 80's hair metal bands. The genre was also called "glam metal" - lots of hairspray, makeup, and Spandex. The venue is the Whisky a Go Go, a famous club on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. It had been an iconic music spot since the 1960s, but in the 1980s it was the epicenter of the LA metal scene - hosting bands like Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Poison, Ratt, etc. Hehehe #2 - "romantical video." Yes, her former husband Tommy Lee is the drummer. Hehehe #3 - "love note to the band itself" - true, the song seemed very boastful. As a side note, I am a bit surprised that you caught the lyrics, since you likely haven't been exposed to a lot of metal from the period, and the words can get lost in the mix, with so many competing sounds. The source you are reading from is very wrong. Vince Neil did not pass away in 1984. He is still alive 40 years later in 2024. Razzle from Hanoi Rocks did die in the car crash, but Vince Neil survived. He was charged with DUI (driving while under the influence) and vehicular manslaughter, but only served a few days in jail. For those present during the Nikki Sixx overdose, you have run across Slash previously. He was the guitar player for Guns N' Roses, usually seen wearing a top hat (he did the solo outside of the church, if you remember the video from them you reacted to a while back). The "destroying hotel rooms" thing really got started with The Who in the 1960s (you reacted to their song "My Generation" in one of your earlier music reactions. Their drummer Keith Moon made trashing hotel rooms an art form, and The Who was banned from several hotel chains. Led Zeppelin followed suit and also destroyed many a hotel room.

If you feel like going down a related rabbit hole, I would suggest checking out some Alice Cooper in the future. He was sort of a 1970s precursor to glam metal, but he took it more in a mild horror direction. His live shows were very theatrical (and still are - I’ve seen him perform a few times in recent years). In my opinion, his music is superior. Possibly just my personal tastes, though. He has a long library of songs. I'd go with "School's Out," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," "Under My Wheels," "Hello Hooray," "Poison," or "Billion Dollar Babies." I also have a soft spot for his ballad "You and Me" from his underrated "Lace and Whiskey" album. The band called Sweet is another influence on glam metal. You may have heard their song "Ballroom Blitz". Others to check out include "Fox on the Run," "Love is Like Oxygen," and "Little Willy."

I met Sixx in an elevator in Milwaukee while on my way to a family members wedding. Talk about a strange encounter. I'm wearing a suit and he was on his way to a sound check for a Milwaukee gig and we were in the same hotel. I sheepishly asked, "Are you....Nikki Sixx?" I was totally into Motley Crue all through high school. Their music still gets your heart pumping.

Hi Diane! Motley Crue was a quintessential 80s Big Hair Metal Band. They burnt out on drugs in the 80s but got sober and came back in the early 90s. Vince Neil isn't dead, he's just old and fat like the rest of us. Fun Fact: They actually collaborated with that Christian Metal Band Stryper for a song once, that was fairly decent! Metal is the source of Strange Bedfellows. Boop!

Nikki Sixx wrote this song about his resuscitation following a drug overdose while using speed and several other drugs along with alcohol. He was literally declared dead before the EMT made one last effort by kickstarting Nicki's heart- thus the title. According to Nicki, as soon as he was released medically, he immediately went to score more drugs. It's one of many crazy but true legendary stories surrounding Motley Crue and its members. The video concept features dangerous behavior and stunts involving high velocity as a metaphor for Nicki's addiction to speed. Crashing and burning is a repetitive theme in the video to represent Nicki's brush with death..

Adler struggled with drug addiction for years, and ruined many relationships along the way. There is a lesser known American saying "If it can't kill you, it can't be that much fun." Kickstart my heart is like saying I need a near death experience to feel alive. The closer to deaths door you brush the more you know you are really alive inside.

The lyrics of Kickstart My Heart talk about Nikki Sixx's experience with death, he had suffered an Overdose and in the ambulance he was injected with two adrelaline drosis and resuscitated (Almost all of the members are still alive, there was a drummer named "Randy Castillo" who died of cancer in the early 2002 or 2003)

Hi Diane, glad to see you're listening to all kinds of new music. Motley Crue's first two albums are their best in my opinion," Too fast for love" and "Shout at the devil", The rest I could pretty much care less about anymore. I would love to see you do something off of those two though. 🌹💖

the phrase motley crew did not originate with this band. it is hilarious to watch these being in my early 50's and having strong attachments to most of these songs..."maybe it's a love song"....CLASSIC!!!!

Mötley Crüe was and is my favorite metal band ever. My first song by them I heard was Kickstart My Heart and I played it like 30 times a day. The guitarist in this band is named Mick Mars and he’s a frickin legend!

The band name is Mötley Crüe (EDIT: I see that you fixed it in the title). The umlauts (the dots over o and u) signify that they're a metal or hard rock band. Other band names that use the metal umlaut include Blue Öyster Cult, Hüsker Dü, and Motörhead. There's also the fictional band in the movie "This Is Spın̈al Tap". Have you seen it? The film goes all the way to 11. I wonder whether Quentin Tarantino was inspired by Nikki Sixx when he wrote the scene where Mia (Uma Thurman) is revived with an injection of adrenaline to her heart ("That was fuckin' trippy"). It seems like the kind of thing Tarantino would do.

The umlauts for their name were inspired by NOTHING more than Löwenbräu beer (according the band) and doesn't signify they're a metal or hard rock band in any sense.

I saw this in concert, and they are great! Tommy Lee played his drums in a cage for one song that went up to the rafters of the auditorium and turned upside down and went to the center of the place as he did a drum solo and he continued as it slowly moved back to the stage. CRAZY! They were fun, full of energy, and put on a great show.

If I remember right (via the old Behind the Music episode on VH1 back in the 90s/early 2000s), the band got their name when they were in a limo or a room where they met with a producer or someone (my memory is super foggy about the specifics), and he saw them and said something along the lines of "Well, isn't this a motley crew." That was pretty much it, lol. My personal favorite Crue songs are this one (Kickstart My Heart), Wild Side, and Dr. Feelgood. I'm not sure why those facts you read claimed Vince Neil died in 84, lol... Vince replaced Michael White at some point in the early 80s and was the lead singer until 1992 (and then he rejoined later and is still the lead singer today).

Motely Crue is misspelled, I also misspelled in on a comment in another video. The autofill wants to spell it crew instead of crue. Though, a crew is a group needed to make music and movies/tv/videos at studios and venues for the stars to be on stage and studio sets.
