The ultimate take-no-prisoners band was formed by the late Ian 'Lemmy' Kilminster, who wanted to call it 'Bastard' but couldn't get away with it. He got away with much else though. The man who lived his life by deafening music, vast consumption and 'carnal knowledge of women on five continents' was too rock and roll even for the notorious Ladbroke Grove scene in London, where he was a member of the alt-hippie rock outfit 'Hawkwind' (singing on their biggest UK hit, the relentless 'Silver Machine'). Excessively loud at all times, the band once received a phone call during a soundcheck, from a man five miles away - complaining he couldn't hear his TV over them...

"We are Motorhead and we play Rock and Roll". Welcome to Lemmy Kilmeister's Motorhead! Speed and Blues combined into Something we really don't have a name for.... Lemmy personally was responsible for helping up hundreds of aspiring musicians, really seemed to have a great time helping younger bands 'get there'... now, you GOTTA listen to anything from "Orgasmatron"...... or hopefully my personal favorite Motorhead tune "Limb From Limb".... spreading thighs from Here to There..... Dr Rock! lol!

This is my favorite song by them , because I think it epitomizes Lemmy's actual approach to life. And it is just all "full speed ahead". Which is also fitting , since "motorhead" is an old term for a speed freak - an amphetamine user or junkie , uppers.

We are Motörhead and we play Rock n Roll. Lemmy was, is and always will be a legend. He is the front man that all other front men look at in awe. Many a band was started after hearing Motörhead and fun fact of the day is that Lemmy was once a roadie for Jimi Hendrix. Overkill should definitely be one for you to do in the future.

Here's a little story for you Back when I went to rock concerts on a regular basis, it was pretty common for rockers to stick their heads in the bass bins. At Motorhead concerts there would be a space around the bins -- they were just that loud. So loud you actually felt their music as well as heard it. And they played like this for an hour plus... no let up, no slow down. Just pure noise.

This is a LEGIT song ! Like you accurately described, it don't let up for a second. ... and it was reality for these guys... "Live Fast. Die Hard. Play Rock and Roll !" That's what it was like for the entire band... both iterations of the band. All those guys in this video have passed away. But this song was really reality... well for Lemmy, the singer/bassist at least. I don't know if anybody has said it but Lemmy's real name is Ian Fraser Kilmister, but he got the name Lemmy, as the story goes, while in high school and he was kinda addicted to the One-Arm Bandit machines and he used to say to everybody, "Lemmy a fiver 'til payday" LOL So like I say, this song is LEGIT

I think that, to at least some extent, all these rock gods are basically striking a pose... Showing you a stage persona. Lemmy showed us Lemmy. He was exactly what you see... badass as they come , in your face, 24 hour party animal, and utterly , completely the genuine article. Not always to my taste (although this is a classic), but you gotta love him. I tell you, if he went to hell when he died, the devil SHOULD be terrified ! :-)

Motorhead's highest charted hits, it shocks fans to know that Lemmy hated this song. It was meant to be a silly filler song for the album, and nothing more. If you noticed he closes his eyes, in interviews he explains the reason is to get through the song itself: sometimes he feels like slamming his bass and walking off stage .... but he also realize that fans love it, so his he closes his eyes and reminds himself that this is for the fans.

Many summers ago, I caught motorhead in a club getting ready to play, and a sound tech was tweaking the soundboard to get all the levels just right.. once he thought he was finished, someone from their crew walked over, shoved everything as far up as it could go and just walked away. One of the most rock n roll things I ever saw. 🤣
