Great Reaction GOTG! Yes, the J-Metal/Rock rabbit hole is not only deep, it is addictive as hell 🙂. BTW, the banner on the stage behind them reads Naon No Yaon, and is the name of an All Female Metal Festival they've been doing at that venue since 1987! The Festival is organized by the leader of the legendary all female Japanese Metal band Show Ya.

Love watching your energy in these reactions. Gets me hyped for music I already love. This song is amazing, and this live performance is great. But IMO the MV is even better, a bit of smoothing the rough edges... The transition from those high pitch scream vocals to that beautiful chorus... just *chef's kiss* The next songs you should check out are Revive (MV) if you want more screams or Raitei (MV) if you want to hear arguably their best song.

You are accurate on ALL OF THEM are absolutely awesome. Each one of them are respectable veteran musicians and able to stand their own. The most senior of them all is the drummer who is one whole band herself, she sings, play piano keyboard guitar bass saxophone drums xylophone you name it. Give her any instruments and a year of practice, she WILL master them. Here is their story... NEMOPHILA is a Tokyo-based Japanese all-female metal band formed in August 2019 as one-off live show band called Mayu Session, and as the name implies, its assembled by mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist as Sindy) assisted by her high school friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist as Gucchi). They managed to get hold of Murata Tamu (ex-SORAMIMI drummer) who is a very famous well respected solo drummer in Japan with massive reputation as one of the best and versatile prolific new age drummer. They still need a guitarist so mayu contacted SAKI (ex-Destrose guitarist) through mutual friend and asked if she is interested for a session or knew someone who might because SAKI is the founder and organizer for World Guitar Girls Collection (WGGC), a project that bring forward talented Japanese female rock/metal guitarists. SAKI, who is very busy being in 2 different bands (Mary's Blood and AMAHIRU) wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to play alongside Tamu (prominent drummer in SAKI's WGGC project) answered YES! They get together and SAKI thought it would be more interesting to add another guitar so she and mayu contacted Hazuki, a highly-skilled technical guitarist from heavy metal band DISQUALIA. She worked as a sessionist for Rami and Li-sa-X since DISQUALIA activities were put on hold in 2017. The arrivals of two technical guitarists concluded Mayu Session's final line-ups of superb veteran quintet. Mayu Session was confirmed to perform live at Shinjuku Wild Side, Tokyo for 'Summer Game' event in August 2019. The news that metal guitar goddess SAKI will be performing alongside drums goddess Tamu, together in one band, travelled fast and eventually became the 'talks of the town'. About 2 weeks before their confirmed live show, Mayu Session was booked for their second live show on 5th September 2019 at the same venue for 'Dig up! Your Wonderland!' event. They hadn't even performed their one-off live show yet but already booked for a second show, which seemed to broke the original one-off deal. During those times, little did they knew that there will be endless show for all of them together as a band. Every member have years of experience being in a band but never played together before. Some members didn't even know each other with different personalities and musical preference. However, during their first show, they hit off immediately on stage when all their wisdom and years of experience kicks-in, triggered them to play their integral parts naturally in completing the whole performance. Every one of them are capable to hold their own and being on equal footing with each other and there were no second guessing so they just enjoying the moment having fun performing, smiling and laughing together, owning the stage while their audience went crazy with lots of excitement. Perhaps too much fun for the band members that they don't want it to end but the show ended and everyone is overjoyed. Despite their differences in many aspect, Mayu felt good seeing the band members really enjoyed each others' company both on and off the stage; and realized that this is what she had always imagined to have in a band. As all the band members felt the same, they decided to make their band permanent and announced that they will stay together as NEMOPHILA during the 5th September 'Dig up! Your Wonderland!' show. NEMOPHILA later announced that they landed their first major appearance in METAL WEEKEND 2019 event at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo. NEMOPHILA performed twice during METAL WEEKEND 2019 with an opening act for two heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL on two different days. On both occasions, the organizer introduced NEMOPHILA as "Super Girls Metal Band" and no question asked on that 'title' since the band members are no strangers to Japanese rock/metal scene with several decades of experience between them; and individually regarded as a reputable seasoned musician. Shortly after that NEMOPHILA performed twice at Shinjuku Wild Side, Tokyo for the "Get Crazy" event in October and "White Night Fantasy" in December. In 2020, NEMOPHILA and announced their Japan tour schedule but eventually cancelled due to the pandemic. On 29th February, just before lockdown took place, they managed to perform at Shibuya REX - their first one-man show. It was a sold-out venue where all tickets were gone hours after it was announced and it was the day they released their first CD with 3 tracks - OIRAN, MONSTER and LIFE. That time, Tamu was on maternity leave. Tamu had always been called-up to fill in for drummers' absence but in her absence, NEMOPHILA called-in Miki 'mittan' Tsunoda, a drummer from the legendary all female band SHOW-YA (one of the best-selling Japanese metal bands in history) who was more than happy to make an appearance that day covering for Tamu. In 2021, NEMOPHILA took part in NAONのYAON (female outdoor stage - music festival celebrating female artist) live streaming show. SAKI was on double duty since Mary's Blood also performing there. Tamu was also called-up to fill in for another band Gacharic Spin since their drummer Yuri was on maternity leave. In December 2021, NEMOPHILA released their full-length debut album REVIVE and ranked #8 on weekly Oricon new album chart, #7 on weekly Billboard Japan (download) chart. Their relentless hard works to establish their presence in local as well as international music scene eventually paid off when they were awarded as the 'Artist of The Year 2021' by Tower Records Japan. In January 2022, NEMOPHILA appeared in one-man show for the first time featuring all original members including the drums goddess, Tamu. In that show, they performed a song LIFE as finale, which was a very special song they performed for Tamu during one of their live streaming event, celebrating Tamu's return to the line ups after maternity leave. This time around, it is very emotional for mayu seeing all the band members around her managed to pull off this one-man show with her and she cried hard. Before their final bow, Tamu is the first to approached mayu and gave her a hug and gentle mother's gesture like saying she did a great job. In April 2022 they performed at NAONのYAON 2022 and later in June they will start Zepp Tour with series of show. One band will be at the venue alongside NEMOPHILA as their guest musician. The most anticipated show is on the 11 June that includes worldwide live streaming show (check ticket at NEMOPHILA website) and the band that answered to their calling for that show is the one NEMOPHILA opened up for before, the heavy metal legend, LOUDNESS. In July 2022 they will perform for the first time outside Japan at West Hollywood. In October they will be in California, US for the Aftershock Festivals 2022, which also includes Mayu's favourite Foo Fighters and Haraguchi-san's favourite Slipknot among the performers. Besides those two bands, they are also excited to be performing on the same day as KISS, one of their seniors they look up to as inspiration. NEMOPHILA did a cover of Detroit Rock City before and that cover now have close to 1 million views. The presence of Tamu alongside SAKI is the beacon of NEMOPHILA and seeing the band's overall vibes throughout, it could be a heavy metal legend in the making. NEMOPHILA is pushing forward since the beginning and there is no sign of slowing down in any foreseeable future. 🤘🏻

This is one of the bands to watch, no question. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.” Nemophil-a (NOT “Nemophil-i-a) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of: Mary's Blood guitarist Saki ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X) ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects) Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized Mayu with some help from Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m9-SZbGltd3HqJc.html The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqyeeLyZx6uloZs.html You should also watch the MV of "Dissension", which will fry whatever is left of your circuits: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aJyRgNiSzd7eaJc.html Also, “Raitei”, which means “Thunder” in Japanese, and yes, they bring the thunder: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/os5dl7l9sLaXYWg.html Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a one of the world’s best metal vocalists. Nemophila’s youtube channel: kzfaq.info/love/voAeGZoC8giXP59NOZABIAvideos If you haven’t already, another band frequently suggested after Nemophila is Hanabie. Try “We Love Sweets” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fZdorNyntanNhIE.html

Mayu is a fantastic singer, but Saki (second soloist here) is rock royalty in Japan. She has been a guitarist for Mary's Blood for some time, and still is. The better performance from this concert is “Oiran”. This is good so imagine how good something even better is? lol Tou should also check out Raitei - it’s subtly brilliant. Of course you also need to check out Life and Monsters… You haven’t even got to Hanabie yet have you? Nemophila and Hanabie both really came out of the pandemic stronger where other bands suffered. Hanabie’s “We Love Sweets” or Reiwa Matching Generation” both are an entry way into another real treat for the senses. There are many many more too but these two bands are the cream of the crop for actual metal right now.

@@HarveyAnk Yes, out of control. This is very important. I think it is not possible to have a complete idea of the Japanese metal scene without going through HANABIE. You have already said the reason: total independence and great talent. You certainly feel the influence of Maximum the Hormone, but HANABIE have been able to transform it into innovation. Not for nothing they define themselves as belonging to the musical genre Harajukucore. Genre in which (hard) music embraces lifestyle, bizarre fashion and the great desire to have fun being themselves and always doing what they want, thus creating a healthy counterculture (obviously always within the limits of Japanese culture😁😁).

@@nikthev heavy metal with screaming is counterculture in Japanese culture, they did not embrace it in the late 90’s - early 2000’s. That’s why I have massive respect for bands like Maximum the Hormone and Ningen Isu for breaking the mold in their culture.

@@Cheezzepuff Yes, you're right, but the countercultures are many and manifest themselves in many different ways. Great reaction as always! Are you ready to be mind-blown by one of the most iconic and influential rock bands in Japan? Try Maximum The Hormone! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f6ldqqeh3OCppGg.html. The drummer Nao was a great inspiration to Band-Maid drummer Akane. Just take care to get no strike!

You notice after you watch the Japanese girl bands other music doesn't sound good it's really slow and offbeat maybe because we're just tired of hearing it but the girl metal bands from Japan are the fantastic music business right now

Very talented band, but unfortunately I really hate their new song Ray of Light. It has none of the hooks that you hear in their other songs and is rather oddly structured, imo. Hopefully it's a one time experiment and not a new direction for the band because it's a far more niche sound than everything else they've released.
@DragonPhlyy2 жыл бұрын
The band is always doing different styles and experimenting don’t worry bro
